Reminds me to get my red, white, and blue solar light string strung out across the front hedge and charging for a few days before lighting it for the weekend.

I can remember when I was small, that my Grandma and I always went to the cemetery on Memorial Day to visit family graves. She'd put flowers on the graves.

Each evening my red, white, and blue solar fairy lights will twinkle so that even when neighborhood flags are down for the night those lost will still have a small memorial shining through the darkness.

In the US, Memorial Day is a day of remembrance for those who died during military service. Veterans Day recognizes all of those those, living or dead, who at one time served in the US military. Armed Forces Day is a tribute to those currently serving in the US military.

I used to put artificial flowers at my parents gravesite (artificial since they don't require care). I stopped doing that this year because every time I returned to the cemetery, they had been mowed over by the groundskeeper, or just removed.
