Ha, ha; Nope!
That's just the steam escaping between the hard outer shell of the lobster and it's body. The lobsters are gonzoed as soon as their heads hit the boiling water and if they're asleep in the freezer; they don't wake up before being submerged in boiling water 🦞☠️
 

Apparently, according to news reports, their "all you can eat shrimp" deals did them in. The one closest to us is not on the full list of closures. No matter...I stopped eating there a couple of decades ago. I'd always order their crab meals. Last time the crabs had no taste. I always loved their hush puppies though.

But look we are Predicators and we Eat what our will pushes us to as cruelty cares less when it comes to hunger. so quit making a big deal of why or how about if ? We are horse shit when hunger rules the 'Boats Course'

Applebees, Papa Johns, Outback Steakhouse owned franchises which include several other chains ....those are others off the top of my head I've read about that are closing multiple locations. Starbucks isn't doing well. I just did a search for an article I read recently about the steady increase in closures of mom and pop restaurants but can't find it. Seems restaurants are front line casualties of our economy.

Food away from home category of CPI-U indicates a severe stress on such places as restaurants.

The money being spent is barely above 1-1-2021 levels... despite inflation. That restaurants are closing should come as no surprise, imho.
 
Restaurant chains have a short life span. When they first open, they're trendy. But without a big advertising budget, they're gone with the wind.
Remember Arthur Treacher's,, Po' Folks, Lone Star Steak, Chi Chi's, Gino's Hamburgers, Howard Johnson's, Kenny Rodger's, Horn & Hardart,, Lum's, Red Barn, Rustler Steak House, Sambo's,, etc. etc.
 
Just looked it up...$80 for 3 lbs of Snow Crab family meal... and you wonder why nobody is eating there.

Gen Z better learn how to cook, 'cause restaurants are going to be a thing of the past in the near future...
 
Restaurants make their real profits from cocktails/drinks. I've rarely seen anyone in a Red Lobster order alcoholic beverages, although I'm sure it happens.
 
We received a gift card this past Christmas for Red Lobster. We've had decent meals here before and decided to head to dinner on a Friday night.
It's always busy on weekends. Not so. The place was pretty much empty, no wait to be seated. The food was not good and another family sitting near us waited forever to get their food. Not surprised they're having issues. A place you once had to wait for a table and now you walk in and get seated. A sign of bad things to come.
 
This is one of the placest my little son would pick for a celebratory dinner or lunch. The second was a Mexican restuarant was a family business. We lost the Mexican place as the people who owned it aged out to retirement. There not children who wanted to carry it on. We ate there 3 times a week when I was in my twenties and at least once a week there after.. That wonderful food brought my son into the world. No wonder it was his favorite. The always knew my order, no question, they also knew to fix me a bag of chips and salsa to take home. They shared out wedding anniversary and his wife had the same birthday as mine.

Red Lobster was the son's 2nd choice for the Walts fried shrimp. It was like $12.99 for 12 shrimp or you could upgrade to 18 shrimp for $15.99. I got the twelve, he got the 18 and he would finish what I could not. It came with two sides and the biscuits. The son took me for lunch for by birthday. No longer on the menu.

When we went, boy, things had changed. I got the 10 count fried shrimp and it came with one side instead of 12 shrimp and two sides for 17.00 This lunch was 10 shrimp, a side of mashed potatoes, no salad or coleslaw unless you want to pay extra. Sad thing, none of it tasted as good as the old days

I can only say, at this point, due to pricing and the failure to offer good food to the public will be their downfall. If you enjoy Red Lobster, now is the time to make you last visit before they are gone. I see no way they can return to their former glory of feeding Americans a tasty dinner at a reasonable cost.
 
just had a call from "lobsters anonymous" in usa who say they are very happy with this result??
