Still, a weird hypocrisy too. Supply the arms to destroy and impoverish these people - but then build a dock to feed the victims. I'm sure such a dock won't ever be used for things less good.

I completely agree that it's weird. Canada, same issue. Military 'aid' to Israel, food/medical aid to Palestinians. We're even hosting a trade event where two Israeli companies are going to be showing their 'battle tested' weaponry to our Department of Defence. You know how they battle tested it of course. I'm appalled. We used to be known as a Peace keeper nation, but now we've become hypocrites and enablers of ethnic cleansing.

Oh Vaughan, I think they read the room (and trade issues) very well and the country that is setting their tone is America on this issue. That and four year election cycles..... those are most important to politicians.

Well, all will be revealed in July when we know the results of the election (as though the result will surprise anyone).

On America, they're out of step with much of the western world on this issue. But you're correct, too few governments are willing to make a stand against them for obvious political reasons. As far as trade goes, Israel is not much of a trade partner for the EU.

well biblically speaking it is not quite as simple as that is it? - the Israelites and Palestinians can be regarded as cousins - eminating from the same way way back father Abraham - biblically recorded - Abraham sired a child from an Egyptian maid servant and that child Ishmael became the leader of a great nation - the Palestinians??
 
If only the United Nations was a trustworthy organization I would want them to Stop This and initiate two states. Britain should be heavily involved as well. If only........but they are not.

The UN is only as powerful as it's weakest link which is the veto power of countries like the USA and Russia. And America has used it's veto power 83 times and 42 of them have been to protect Israel when the UN has called them out for bad behaviour.
