I have questions about camping for any who camp

Well we’re on the road to our camping adventure.

I think I mentioned that Ron’s truck isn’t functional for this trip long story so we packed everything into the Tucson. What a Tetris moment that was!(for any who are familiar with that particular game!!) Damn good thing I’m excellent at that game!! 🤣

We’re back! We survived our tent camping adventure, even though we were packing up this morning in the rain! Made some lovely memories and I would happily do it again though I may be the only one! 😂

Friday night’s campfire.

@Thanks for this @FLMike!

Tennessee temps aren’t as brutal as Florida’s, but nonetheless the heat and humidity here as summer progresses makes it uncomfortable, especially when you’re trying to sleep.

Do you just zip closed all the window openings to cover the mesh so that the air conditioned air won’t escape? Is ther mesh in the roof of your tent? If so does the rain fly act as a barrier to keep the cooler air inside?

The temps were in the low 90s all week. The lows were around 77. The small air conditioner kept the tent comfortable during the day and by morning we would have our heads under the covers. We were at St. George Island State Park in north Florida.

We were very comfortable at night without need of even the box fan we brought along, because the nighttime temps were only in the 60’s. It was hot during the day, but we were on the water so mostly were able to cool off with a quick dip.

At one point my son took a nap in his car with the a/c running.

Nice to know though that your setup worked! We have a small unused a/c in the shop that we’ve talked about bringing when the temps hit the brutal mark.

Things I learned:

1. Bring an EZup next time. Gives shade if no trees, especially over the picnic table when you’re sitting down to a meal.

2. Pack more efficiently.
All items needed for cooking and serving in one box.
Less clothing…I’m going to wear some things twice.
Not everything needs to go in a bin..for example, a soft sided carrier for the bedding will squish into a much smaller space than a bin will.

3. My two dogs need different colored tethers so that if they get tangled it’s easier to untangle the lines.

4. Bring slip on shoes as well as laceups or buckled sandals.

Most useful/versatile items: Hatchet and pop up kitchen wipes.

And final note….zip the tent closed at all times. Both because of bugs, but even more because unexpected rain (which we had) will slide down the rain fly and drip directly into the door of the tent! 🤦‍♀️😵‍💫😂
