George Takei leads Pride Parade in Hollywood

LA Pride Parade draws thousands of people to Hollywood

I just love this guy. He's been so open in sharing what his parents went through during the Japanese Internment scandal, he promotes Star Trek culture and IDK if people understand that Star Trek really helped SciFi turn an entertainment corner into marketable viability for that genre, and he also happens to be gay. People should not have to hide that. If you're a wonderful, stand-up person, that is all that matters.

You have to admit that compared to the trainwreck type lives a lot of TV actors, he is a remarkably stable, engaged, well liked, and active. He's not working on his 5th rehab, and no major felony convictions.
Being of Japanese descent in WWII, and being gay in the 60s, 70s exposed him to what discrimination and pure hate truly was.

You really need to see George in his best film: "Oblivion."

So bad it is prime riffing material. Whole thing available now free:

I have heard him talk about his parents and how they coped with having to rebuild their lives after Internment. They sound like Salt-of-the-Earth people; stalwart and steady. It was hard work and unjust as hell, but they rebuilt their lives.

I gather that William Shatner and George Takei didn’t always get along, but as long as Kirk and Sulu are still around, I feel somehow safe in my 1960’s roots!

Apparently at one time there was consideration given to a Star Trek spin-off show featuring Captain Sulu, but sadly this never came to pass… 😿
