Need to Lose 40 Pounds.

Last year I was put on meds which really helps my mental and emotional stability . The only problem is it creates weight gain. If you look up the side effects, weight gain is one of the first ones to be listed.

I’m creating this diary to make myself accountable. I can’t keep losing weight and gaining it back.

I’d like to lose 40 pounds by this Christmas

Exercise! And good luck to you. I'm sure you'll meet your goal.

I AM exercising and downsizing food portions. I think my body let me know today that I was pushing it a bit too much. I was very dizzy today and could not do my walk. Hopefully tomorrow will be different.
I hope so too. Your body will adjust to smaller food portions and exercise, but exercise is SO important for health I'd rather see someone eat well and have the energy to exercise than not if you know what I mean.

My body WILL adjust to smaller portions. I will NOT give up exercising. I was too weak and dizzy to walk today. I think I’ve got some auto immune diseases I need to tend to. My doctors appointment is on the 17th.

Generally I eat really well. One problem I have is that my husband is now retired and he loves cooking and is quite good at it. It’s ‘not’ a complaint nor am I blaming him for my weight gain. Most of the problem is prescription related but part of it is not being able to say NO thank you.

Hi Patty. When I was diagnosed with Type2 Diabetes, many years ago. I immediately bought myself a pedometer to track my steps. I started walking very early in the morning because I don't like the hot weather. Each day I would walk a little further and you'd be surprised how many kilometers you can do. Cut out all the sugar and stick to a healthy diet. I have been doing this for many years and I have lost over 20kilos.

Only yesterday I walked in the city with my son and when I looked at my pedometer, I was shocked to see we had walked 7 kilometers, 10,279 steps and burned 440.5 calories in 1hr 53 minutes. We didn't need to walk fast. Not bad for an 80-year-old eh! YOU CAN DO IT>>>>>>

How do they calculate so precisely, especially the calories lost (does it not depend upon person's weight, fitness level, and lack of regular exercise), I wonder?
Readings like that are only meant to inform generally so the educated guess and the change in values from day to day are highly informative even without being totally accurate for every person.

Lack of exercise isn’t the problem. I walk approximately 2.5 kilometres to 5 kilometres a day. I was doing yoga but seriously injured my arm a couple of months ago so can’t do my yoga.

My gym room was getting refinished with 3/4 inch tavern maple and it got delayed. My husband hurt himself so it got put off. This threw my entire schedule off some. I was exercising but not enough.

My prescription really knocks me out. Many mornings I HAVE to go back to bed to wait for the prescriptions to wear off. One of the prescriptions are benzodiazepines.

Tomorrow I will put my weights back in my room and re-start my weight lifting.

One thing I miss a lot is swimming. I’ve swam long distance my entire life but we moved to a new place and I don’t know if there’s a swimming pool nearby but I think I shall inquire.

REALLY DISLIKE being overweight. All my clothes are too tight. UGH!

Ok I found a local public pool 40 minutes away that I might join if I can. Stopping my medication isn’t an option. Now I need to buy a swimming suite. Tomorrow I’ll go into Walmart or Giant tiger. The swimming might help my arm too.

The pool has public swimming and lane swimming as well as exercise classes.
I’m going to join as soon as I get a swim suite.

I’ve purchased two swimsuits off Amazon but they won’t be here for a month.

Thanks for the support. I could really use some.

I hope you don't have any auto immune disease. That be tough but they can be managed well with rest, freedom from stress and nutrition. Hugs.

There is an injection system, somewhat like the insulin one that helps you lose 5 lbs. a week.
It's about $400 a month for 6 months or so. You continue your daily life, possibly walk a bit too.
Don't eat before you get sleepy and eat a correct good for your needs diet.

I'm rooting for you, PP. 🌹
Thank you ladies. This pool is a game changer. . The great news is that it’s salt water not chlorinated. Bonus. Salt water is much easier to swim in. It adds buoyancy. I have two swim suits ordered already. Squeal!!! They are even kind of cute.

I can’t afford $400 a month but CAN afford $85 for 3 months of swimming. If I can swim 3 times a week, minimum, I CAN do this.

@PeppermintPatty I know you're a smart lady and I admire you for taking your health and weight seriously. I understand you can't and shouldn't discontinue the medication you're taking just to lose weight. I'm cheering you on, along with RadishRose. Hope you start seeing results with the swimming included, please don't overdo, being weak or dizzy is not worth it, as you well know.

The fact that the pool is salt water is awesome! I always loved swimming at the beach and in the ocean, never in pools or fresh water lakes at all. Thinking of you and sending you warm thoughts and good vibes my friend! 🧡

@PeppermintPatty have you considered physical therapy along with exercise? I know it is typically associated with injuries but when my shoulder and neck pain became virtually debilitating I was referred to a physical therapist who provided various spine-strengthening exercises that I could do at home. I practice them every day and have no more pain. It might particularly help with your arm.

I think you have better healthcare across the pond and mine was still on $20USD per session.

I'm with the others who have wished you the best in your efforts to reach your goal! We will check in with you periodically and shame you if it helps. :ROFLMAO:

I’ve been a swimmer my whole life so long distance swimming should still be easy for me, especially if it’s salt water. I hope to go 3 times a week and walk the days in between as well we doing some free weights lifting. I got an extra large swim suite and am hoping to be fitting into a smaller size after a couple of months.

Thanks for the support Seabreeze

Yes I HAVE considered physiotherapy and it’s covered under our help insurance. I’m also VERY interested in doing specialized water aerobics designed for people with ongoing injuries. I’m at least going to ask about it.
It’s a great idea. Thank you. I CAN & WILL do this.IMG_4772.jpegHere is the pool. It looks like a nice one.

If the swim suits are delayed for a month, they are coming from China, usually. Maybe try to see if a local seller on Amazon has the same size and style? Or, look on Ebay. Many sellers sell off of both platforms.

Good luck to you with this.

Thank you. I would really like to get these. They come with longish shorts and a flowing top with a fitted bra underneath. I got 2 long shorts for bottoms and 2 long flowing tops with bras underneath. They look kind of cute.
Since these are coming so late I purchase something at Walmart just to tie me over.

It’s not an olympic sized pool. It’s only 25 metres long which means I’ll have to swim 40 lengths to swim 1 kilometre. I probably won’t start at that but you never know. I might surprise myself.
