Mystery Illness Sickens Grand Canyon Hikers

I rafted the canyon over twenty years ago and the same thing happened to a group that had finished their trip the week prior. I asked a guide about it and he thought it was either a stomach virus (like cruise ships) or that some treated water had not been thoroughly decontaminated. He also said this usually happened in the spring in prior years. It probably made the news because it was a large group, but this is not a “new” thing in the canyon.
