Are Car Tyres expensive where you are?

Ya and they make them out of bubble gum now. The rubber starts cracking after only a few years.
When I was younger I remember seeing old tires on farm equipment sitting in a field exposed to the element and they never cracked. I have some Michelin that are so cracked up it's crazy and they are not that old. They are light truck tires and about $250 each to replace.

I buy ours on the Internet, Usually around $400 on sale for 4.
The Rural guys like to keep their help busy and not eat the shipping expense.
I get them shipped for free. Pay the Rural guys for valve stems and batteries for the Pressure sensor's a win win.

I know most tire shops are pissed when people bring internet tires for installation. Tire work has gotten out of hand for simple mount and balance. They charge as though everyone owns a vehicle with special rims that require special equipment to work on.

Just now priced four new tyres for my Mitsubishi AXS - $700

It depends on the tyres and the application, as not all tyres are equal. It’s not necessary to put on the same brand as the original equipment; you just need to ensure they have the correct speed and load rating for your car.

Popular sizes tend to be less expensive than rare sizes. Some tyres offer better wet weather grip, while others are better in dry conditions. Wear rates also vary between brands. Generally, you get what you pay for.

For instance, one of my cars has “Uniroyal RainSport 5” tyres, 215/45 17Y (91), costing £110 each (about $210 AUD or $140 USD).

Another car I have has “Michelin Pilot Sport 4s” tyres, 255/35 18Y (94), at £201 each (around $383 AUD or $255 USD). The Michelin tyres have a softer outer third of the tread compared to the inner two thirds, which improves grip and handling in corners. Some places in the UK give a discount if you have to have more than one tyre fitted.

Which tyres did you put on your Mitsubishi?

Car tyres are cheap and relatively long lasting.
Motorcycle tyres are expensive and short lived.
My Triumph Rocket 3 with its massive engine chewed through a $500 very quickly.

I bought 4 about a year ago from the Jeep dealer. I think it was about $900 fully installed including taxes etc. I have this dream that if I get wide tires that look really cool that all the chicks will be impressed and will want to peel off my clothes and have sex with me because of my tires. I guess my dream needs to wait for another 4 years, as I settled for standard highway tires.

I drive a Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. I went from 50,000 mile tires to 80,000 mile tires. They drive noisier than the old tires. I didn't replace all 4 at once. I replaced 2 and then later, the other 2. Both times the bill was around $330. Give or take a few dollars. The tires on this car is costlier than tires on my other cars. Then again, these tires are a little bigger size than the one on my other cars.

I was only pricing them. No need for new tyres any time soon.
That price was for 4 x RoadX tyres

Expensive is a relative word, and there are many grades and prices of tires even within the same brand names. Almost every brand name of tires makes low, and high end as well as specialized tires. Within the same size tire prices can vary by hundreds of dollars, depending on ratings of season, milage, wear, speed, handling, noise, etc. For my van I can buy tires from $150.00 each to over $400.00 each. Are tires expensive? Hell yeah, but so is everything else.

Asked HD about winter tires says about $1000.00. A little less for summers.
We have All Season that came with the car and switch to winter treads in October. Those were $1000+ and we pay $150 for seasonal storage and the changeover. That’s $300 per year just for that.

I had problems with Michelin tyres over the years, mostly with the inner tyre wall failing. When I got my current camper van, the Michelin tyres were OK, but I switched them for Finnish 'Nokian' commercial tyres. Slightly lighter feel and less road noise. I think they cost around £110 each.
We don't tend to 'rotate' wheels any more and don't need winter tyres in the UK.

I run all-season radials, and recently had to replace a set of four that failed inspection due to dry rot cracking. Replacement cost with all fees including old tire disposal ran me around $1,000 for mid-grade tires...
