Moments of Zen - Small Joys

I got 12 hours of sleep last night. It was interrupted by having to get up to close the windows, but it was still nice.

My noise cancelling earbuds are working well.

I just tried out my table top swamp cooler. I'm amazed that it works but super happy that it does.

Sitting on the patio in the very early morning watching the birds...also I have a granddaughter that lives next door, while I try hard to keep my boo-boos to a minimum there have been many times I've had to call her for help with a 'situation' (usually something tech) I've got myself in, she always comes to my rescue with a smile....she is worth her weight in gold.

You are so lucky!

Yesterday I got away for a solo hike at my own speed and was delighted at how light on my feet I felt. Walked for over an hour and half with just one break which I didn't feel I needed at the time but I was approaching the steep downhill section toward the end and I wanted to make sure my legs were up to the challenge.

There were many more hikers around than usual, probably owing to the Juneteenth holiday that is popular in my area. Along Stream Trail it is required to keep dogs on leash which I was happy to do with my bossy herder. But she is a princess on leash passing parent with kids, dogs and strollers without getting excited.

Later when we turned off to go up Chown Trail I planned to let her off leash. There were two heavy set fellows but less than half my age who followed us up. We stayed ahead of them most of the way but then Ember had to do some business so I stood aside and let them pass. Fortunately they did not slow down and so I was able to take her back off leash for most of the walk. When people with dogs off leash approached I left her off too, otherwise I'd just reach down and say "collar" and she'd come put her neck in my hands to be leashed.

I'm used to having these trails to myself in the middle of the week but it was pleasant to share for once.

Was having a difficult time then read something on my Instagram account that made me feel better. My Instagram only has healing accounts with people sharing positive things.

It was something I've been struggling with for a while. Sometimes it's good to have positive reminders.

Every day, good things happen. Sometimes I fail to take notice. Sometimes it's the smallest of things that bring the most joy.

Today, I'm happy about getting to day 1,000 on an app that I've been doing every day. It's like a meditation type app. 🧘‍♀️🙏

What small thing brought you joy today?

Today I got the Wordle in 3. So far this month I have done that 13 times. I know much of it is luck but it makes me feel good.

My new noise cancelling earbuds are cutting down on some of the noise of the fireworks before the 4th of July. Lots of random pops.

I didn't get these for the back neighbor since anything he does would overtake the noise cancelling. That's why that noise is illegal.

But for the neighbors a little farther away, the noise cancelling earbuds have cut down on some of the random pops of fireworks. I can still hear it, but it's not as jarring.

I have done landscape gardening for two of my friends, and I loved it. Others were asking me to landscape their garden too, but only one person wanted a garden I was prepared to do, and that was a Japanese garden.

I saw a large scale Japanese Garden when I visited Cowra, and fell in love with it. I wanted to know more, and bought a few books on the subject, and found that there was so much involved in the art of such gardens.

The person who originally wanted the garden had to relocate, and the landscaping never got started. So, not having a place nor land to create my own, I settled for a mini zen sand garden in my spare room _ my meditation, room at the time. . .

Here is a famous zen sand garden that shows a man and a horse wading through the water. The figures are only seen at one line of sight, where some of the rocks align up.

I attended a live online masterclass on joy. The leader of the class heads an EFT (tapping) company. He was talking about HeartMath, a company that sells HRV (heart rate variability) devices. I've lately gotten back into Coherence Breathing and my old HRV monitor. My 2 monitors still work which is amazing, and I've been using them for a bit. Helping me to be a bit more zen.
