Is anyone familiar with the Lancaster City, PA area? I'm thinking of retiring there in two years and need to learn a little more about the area. Is it walkable to supermarkets, pharmacies, public libraries, vets, etc? What are the good and not so-good parts of the city?

If you can...
Visit
For a few days
Stay in a 'bed&breakfast'
Owner could 'clue you in'
Go to the library.or museum
you can learn a lot talking to locals.
Of course, before all ⬆️
Research
See what you can learn
Also, Chamber of Commerce ' love'
to promote..and would send info
Good Luck !

"1. Lancaster, PA. With a walk score of 81, Lancaster is the most walkable city in Pennsylvania."
-from Google search result.

Also the population is around 58,000
Yes, but as I understand it, large supermarkets, drugstores and vets are not that walkable to downtown Lancaster. Where I currently live, all are within a couple of blocks from my apartment so I guess I'll be staying where I am for the foreseeable future.

I don't even live in the US, but even I know there's a lot of Amish and Mennonite there...

We stopped for lunch once at a restaurant in Lancaster. Can't remember where we were travelling. I found the salad dressing interesting. Kind of sugary. I bought a little Amish cook book.
