Fed up? Feel free to vent here, and get it off your chest!

Good grief... I would be very upset if that house was opposite me... what a state !... and those poor little kids, look how overweight they are ?bet they're being fed cheap fatty food...

What is on the old wreck on the left , is that cardboard ?

I could write a chapter in a book about the dysfunctional trashy rats over there. Child family services would likely be interested in the living arrangements over there. Those two boys and their "parents" actually LIVE in a garden storage shed on the back of the property. The boy's "mother" is the daughter of the woman that lives in the house. The woman WILL NOT allow the boys, her daughter and her daughter's husband to live in the house. The daughter's husband is not to be trusted and has been abusive to the older woman who lives in the house. I guess the woman doesn't want the boys and daughter to live homeless on the street but also doesn't want them living in the house.

The storage shed does not have water or sanitation and I think power is supplied by an extension cord running from the house to the shed. They've lived there so long and used the door so often, it has fallen off the shed and they placed a blanket, curtains or something up as a "door". They live in those conditions summer and winter, year round, and have for 3-4 years.

Additionally, the daughter had a child while she was in high school and couldn't take care of the child, so the older woman adopted the child. That child, a female now a teenager, lives in the house with the older woman.

If you think those boys are overweight, you wouldn't be shocked with the appearance of the very robust, well beyond obese, older woman or their "mother". And the mother usually wears shorts so tiny they don't even cover her bum crack completely, while her belly almost covers the front of the short shorts. Shorts that are about 6 sizes too small for her. The youngest boy, sitting in the chair in the road, often runs around completely naked.

The oldest boy in the picture was selling cookie orders around Christmas time year before last for a school fundraiser and I ordered $22 worth. Months went by and no cookies. Was told no one received their cookies and the school was looking into it. I never got cookies or the $22 back and have had nothing to do with the dysfunctional trashy rats since.

No idea what's in the old wreck but it's not cardboard. Some construction material or other maybe. The picture I posted shows the grass recently cut over there. And that was the first time this year it had been cut. The grass was over knee high before it was cut. And the only reason it was cut was because the following day after cutting was "Father's Day" and the boy's "dad" chose to do "something" to endear himself I suppose.

I called the city information and asked who I should contact to report a property in that condition and was told to contact Code Enforcement. I just haven't gone down to the city office yet. I can't quite figure out why the city doesn't see what's going on and do something about it without my involvement or exposure to retribution.

The police have been to that address many times over the years, with the most recent visit being last week. The old woman that lives in the house used to foster animals and has contacts and influence within the city's Animal Control. Her daughter, the boy's "mother", appears to have some sort of familiarity with the local law enforcement. She can be charming when need be and finds ways to lie her way out of most any circumstance.

They have a feral cat colony they maintain over there. My guess is to help control rodents that likely scurry about the property over there. The old woman once told me that cats have a RIGHT to roam free. Additionally, the daughter and her husband have a dog they claim to be half Wolf (HA!), chained up in the yard outside the storage shed they live in. AND ... they have a young female dog they have bred twice. I think they sell the puppies. So there is one dog chained up and three other dogs that free roam.

So anyway, last week at 8A.M. I heard the dogs going wild and looked out my window. There was a young woman pushing a baby in a stroller down the street. Just out for a nice walk. And the dogs were barking at her. One of the dogs got behind her as she tried to protect her baby in the stroller. Then the dog went for the back of her leg. The woman was rightly terrified.

I rushed outside to help fend the dogs off as she dialed emergency 911. An Animal Control truck soon showed up with two officers, shortly followed by a police cruiser with one officer. At that point I went back into my house.

It took about 10minutes to finally get the teenage girl in the house to come to the door. The girl went out back to the shed to get the boy's (and her) "mother". It was 5-10 minutes more before the "mother" showed up to speak with the officers.

I watched as the "mother" did most of the talking. Well, giving the officers her spiel of charming BS. Any time speaking with the trashy rats, suspect that you are hearing a lie. The interaction took another 5-10 minutes and then Animal Control and the Police officer simply left, drove off. No ticket ... no dogs confiscated ... no nothing. I was shocked !!! Nothing !!!

So even if I do contact the city's Code Enforcement, what might I expect? ... nothing. I suspect they deal drugs from time to time over there too and who knows what kind of arrangement the woman and her husband might have with law enforcement.

Sorry to babble on and on and it's just the tip of the iceberg. Since nothing ever seems to touch the teflon trashy rats, I try to see them as "entertainment". Disgustingly foul entertainment.

Horrendous... just appalling... perhaps the younger woman is ''servicing'' the local police force... because other than that how can they not see through all of their filth, and BS?
That is a mystery to me. Maybe drug association in mix somewhere. Who knows.
The inside of the shed they live in is nothing but stacked material debris and clutter, wall to wall, floor to ceiling.
Provides some insulation in winter I guess.

When it rains, the boys ALWAYS like to romp around outside in it ... which is kind of neat on a certain level.
However, they particularly like to play in the road gutters where water rushes down the street.

Well a few days ago, I had to run to town as it had just stopped raining. The boys were in the street and as I slowly and carefully drove past them, the youngest boy threw a bucket and hit my Jeep.

When I applied brakes and stopped the Jeep, the youngest boy got wide eyed and took off running as fast as his little fat legs could carry him. The other boy stood in the road yelling "MAMA !!!" ... I drove on, not wanting a confrontation and needing to take care of business in town.

Next day, the woman was out in the yard and from my yard and across the street I told her that her youngest boy had thrown a bucket at my Jeep. She said she knew about it and had beat his a55.

EDIT: I was seriously going to feel bad for the little boy but the thing is ... I've never ever seen her strike one of the boys. She will yell at and loudly cuss them but I've never seen a strike. And too, I remembered the golden rule ... Whatever the trashy rats say is likely BS.

And honestly, I don't think the little boy threw the bucket on purpose and hit my Jeep. I was watching him the whole time in my side mirror while the boys frolicked in the water rushing down the curb. I THINK the little boy attempted to playfully toss a bucket of water on my Jeep, but the bucket full of water was heavy and slipped from his grasp. That's one possibility anyway.

There are nice homes on either side of the trashy rats property ...

And my side of the street. I live in the little white cottage on a double lot, with a nice size fenced yard for the boy dog.
There was a house there where the fence is. I bought it, tore it down, cleared and fenced the combined property.

Best picture of the shed I could get from the street. There is debris and clutter piled all around outside the shed. This is the first year trees they let grow, have gotten large enough to cover a clear broad view of the shed ...

The house that used to be next to me. The elderly owners had passed away a couple of decades ago and the heirs had made it a rental property. It had thus fallen into great disrepair and was virtually uninhabitable with no heat or cooling and instances of black mold. Only shady or desperate people ever rented the 3bdroom 1500sq.ft. house.

When the heirs let property taxes lapse, I bought the house at tax auction for $500. By state law, I had to wait 3yrs before doing anything with the property. That would give the heirs a chance to reimburse me for any and all expenses and catch up on their tax arrears. I could have rented the property out during those 3yrs but wasn't allowed by law to do anything else. I let it just sit empty for 3yrs, then tore it down, cleared the lot and fenced the property ...

Maybe the city or child Services are both the type of organizations that require two or three complaints. Too bad the woman with the baby who was being terrorized by the dogs didn’t ask you or others to confirm her complaint. Something needs to be done.

Before going back inside my house, and while the woman with the baby was talking to the police officer, I told her that I'd seen everything and then gazed at the officer sternly. The woman said, "Thank You !!! ... I didn't want anyone to think I was crazy and making things up !!!" ... she was still very shook up and animated when she said that. The thing is, the dogs had already retreated back near the shed by the time Animal Control and the Police Officer showed up and were no longer even barking ... much. Guess the dogs were just watching what was going on with all the commotion out front.

I was going to ask about a Code Enforcement Officer in your town... but I see you already mentioned it. Our town's CEO would be banging on doors until he got compliance or heck *would* be paid. Do you know if those neighbors on either side of them are reporting as well? And the fenced property for just $500 and three years is *tremendous!* (y)

Only one problem. Foster care can be worse. I worked in adoption & foster care. It's a crapshoot.
yes and no...I was regularly put into foster care when I was a kid, different ones every time.. one was group Home for kids under 16..other times in private homes... really and truly they were better than my own home... we had structure that we never had at home

The other neighbors are not reporting the trashy rats. They are scared of them and KNOW there would be retribution if the trashy rats knew who reported them. Retribution from the trashy rats and/or one of their nefarious lowlife friends. Also, both houses on either side of the trashy rats are single women who live alone.

That sounds like a nightmare—how frustrating. :cautious:

Your own house looks great!

I may have missed it as I skimmed through all the posts, but I assume there is no HOA? Most people hate them, but I think they can be helpful if they don't go overboard and get tyrannical.

@KSav ... no HOA ... and I wouldn't live where there is one because of a chance they may go overboard and get tyrannical ;)
I don't blame you. I've read some real horror stories, especially back in VIrginia. Fortunately, for all the houses we lived in that had HOAs, they were generally inactive. But when we moved out of Michigan, the appraiser knocked the value of our house down by a significant degree because "neighboring properties showed signs of deferred maintenance." Probably the best case of polite-speak I've ever seen. 😄

I'm really sorry you have to put up with those folks across the street, though. My blood pressure was rising just thinking about.

I’m sure they know you can take care of yourself, or Boy Dog will do it for you.

That they KNOW for fact. They don't physically mess with me or mine but there are other ways of retribution. They called the police on me once for ... "a crazy guy hacking on a tree" ... and called the police another time for ... "a guy who stole some buckets of rocks and was pouring them out in a yard by a driveway". Nothing came of either incidence of course, just inconvenienced a couple of police officers for no reason.

And I'm worried they OR one of their nefarious friends could come over in the night and wreck all kinds of havoc with my vehicles and/or property. Even stealing stuff from out back in my sanctuary, spray painting my house or who knows what when I might not be at home.

Mason the 12yr old boy dog (13 in Sept) is a sweetheart. He would probably alert but I don't think he would show aggression. He never has, not to humans anyway, and don't want to find out. It's up to us to protect our pets ... not the other way around.
