This is from the era when country singers didn't have to try to sound country.
They just opened up their mouths , sang and that was all the country you needed .

 

Is it true that if you play a country song, on vinyl, backwards, You get your car back, your job back, your house back, your dog back? I remember a comedian who said don't play it backwards to the end or you get your wife back! So cruel.
 

Wow... I've always liked that song.... had NO idea anyone did it before Ricky Van Shelton!

There were 42 covers and one original - Ned Miller - before Mr Shelton covered the song.
There were 37 covers after Mr Shelton's cover.
There are 10 instrumental covers.
There are at least 8 overseas versions.
No doubt there are many more.
