How is your day Today, plans and achievements 2024....

Oh, my! Morning got here again. Already. It's time to truck on over to the bakery and...bake.

It's not supposed to be any cooler today than it has been. Sigh. Maybe we'll get rain again someday.

Today is the day I'm scheduled to only work until 8. If I do that, my work won't get done and will be left for "somebody" else to do. There is no somebody, and I'll shoot myself in the foot so that tomorrow I'll be even further behind. Oy. If I stay? I dunno. I'll ask Sir what to do. I don't want him to get his arse in a sling because I stayed longer.

OMG!!!

Well - the good news is - I'm out of my Covid bed this morning! Still feeling very groggy and flu-ish. The bad news is - my wife and daughter (visiting from London) tested positive this morning. The other good news is - I lost 10lbs! Every cloud etc :D

Goober has been walked and played with, while it's still (comparatively) cooler out.

Coffee time now, then breakfast. After that is a long, hot day in town: gym, errands, Dio's appointment, store, and pizza. I don't know how hot it will get today, but we were over 100°F/37.7°C yesterday. I expect to be completely worn out by the time we get home! 😴💤💤💤

That's it for me...time to get myself going!

Flowers watered, deadheaded and some treated with fungicide. Done in the garden for today.

The usual rant ahead:

:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: It was that kind of day. I did leave at 8 because. Because that's what's on the schedule. I don't give a rat's 🐀 rear if the rest of the work doesn't get done. It'll still be there tomorrow, and it won't get done then, either.

Would you believe that Cookie and Newest Person both asked for next Wednesday through the following Sunday off? Our work week starts on Sunday. Really? Starting July 3 through the 7th. Gen Z. In Cookie's case, the only thing different is that she asked for the days off instead of just not showing up. In Newest Person's case, why not? She doesn't get enough hours to begin with and can actually make some money at her other (restaurant) job over the weekend...the long, long weekend. You know, the weekend that starts on Wednesday and ends on Sunday night.

I have an idea! How about Sir tells them both no? You know, that "no" word that constitutes a complete sentence. No. See? It's a complete sentence.

Guess who's scheduled next Thursday, July 4. I'm not a happy camper. At least I'll get holiday pay.

In Cookie's case, Sir and assistant store manager both keep saying "it's being worked on." Doubtful that I'll live that long.

Rant over.

ETA: Rant was almost over. Cookie, Newest Person and I all get paid the same. Thank you, union.

One person should get those days off. The one with seniority.

I've got a couple more cords of cut & split firewood to stack, so I'll put in some time with that, The requirements of the larger vegetable garden (which has patches of raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries too) are minimal at the moment. It's mostly planted and semi-decently groomed, and for today will only need sprinklers moved around.

Right now we're keenly focused on keeping the wandering yearling bear out of our 4-acre fenced-off area. The little guy ate all of our lettuce in the last five days. Our basic fencing was designed to keep deer out but, today, we're working on our plan for how we will upgrade the electric-fence aspect. In non-urban areas of British Columbia, ensuring the practical protection of human-home requirements from the activities of certain local creatures means an ongoing attempt at dynamic-balance.

Right. It's my regular day off. I need to quit.

I've mentioned before that I was thinking of waiting until after the cataract surgery, then just not going back. I'm thinking about it again. If I quit, I won't have anything to do so I need to start thinking of time fillers...

ETA: Wait. What? What am I thinking? Why should I quit? I can just go in, do my work, leave, get paid every week. Eff them.

I always wished I was one of those people that didn't think about work until I clocked in and when I walked out the door I didn't think about it again until the next time I clocked in.
That's hard for some people. I get it, believe me.
You may want to become like that if you want to continue to work, collect your paycheck, and enjoy your time off.

I've been thinking of you, as I'm sure others here, have been as well.
I was going to ask for your update; I'm glad to see you've left one, though I wish it was going better!

We hope things will turn around very soon.
But keep us posted, anyway. We'll be thinking of you, and of them too.

That is NOT the way to lose weight!!!! Please, take care Oy!! 😷

I wish the best to your family, too!

Well talk about an eclectic day. It's racing towards 8pm , still very sunny and warm.

I started the morning off with a meeting with my lawyer... she's doing the best she can under my money restraints, but she can't create miracles.. and honestly I had no idea that the court system is so expensive, if you want to find some deceit on the part of the other party.. which I cannot afford, the unfairness of it all is just beyond belief.. no wonder so many women stay in terrible marriages......enough said about that for the moment.

Then I went out.. very hot day by mid-day when I left.. and took 2 Large sacks to the Charity shop by way of a donation... 2 towns South...everywhere was very quiet , the roads, parks, rivers.. clearly people were either staying at home or the beaches were packed...

Then I went down to the river and took some photos.... and there's a riverside cafe, so as I'd had no breakfast I stopped and had a freezing cold drink and a sandwich... before moving onto to take some pictures of the river and weir..

There was a guy about my age standing on the bridge at the Weir ,fashionably dressed in summer clothing, , smart looking.. .. and as I was taking pictures he struck a convo... So we talked for a few minutes.. and then while he was talking he started picking his nose...:sick:...I quickly walked away...:oops:

Afterwards I drove into North London.. cuz a little ladies clothing store I know has a sale on, so I got a pretty , Duck egg blue, winter cable jumper reduced by /3rd.. and a White Cotton Broderie Anglaise V neck summer top for just £15.. which will be suitable for me to take with me when I take my trip to the coast next month ... and I got 2 Raspberry & cream turnovers, one of which I've just had with a cuppa tea...

I’m on the way north for my mini-vacation… it’s hot and sunny… even with the visor down and sunglasses on, I’ve had to stop for a cola and to sit in a local fast food place for a few min.. the glare was giving me a bad headache. Kind of takes the fun outta summer trips (but I’ve always preferred travel in autumn anyway ☺️). Got about another hour on the road I think

Have a super time, CS... and be safe on the roads... I'm going to be doing the same in about 10 days time, only I'll be going about 3 hours south....

We did out little trip to Farmer's Market this morning.
Hubby got the last strawberries for the season & a tomato for lunch.
Bacon & tomato sandwiches!

We have a new hedge trimmer , tried it out on the apple trees.
On the limbs that were hitting the lawn mower's head, knocking off his hat!

I was surprised at the size of the apples.

Blue berries appear to have some ripe berries.
