What do you wish?

I wish I had learned to play piano. I wish I had tried harder to write stories or novels. I wish I had been a better listener and not thought I knew everything. I wish I had been closer to my daughters and told them more often how much I loved them.

I wish there was peace on earth. I wish I had known then what I know now. I wish my DIL was still here. I wish I could find three days in a row that it won't be raining or storming so I could spend some time at our timeshare in Atlantic City. I wish I was motivated to practice my piano regularly....don't know why I don't and I admonish myself for not doing it.

Visual...it's not too late for you to learn to play piano. There are relatively inexpensive keyboards available and YouTube is full of free piano lessons structured to get you sounding good much sooner than traditional piano lessons used to. As far as writing, even best selling authors get writers block. Perhaps you need a muse, something to inspire your creativity.

I remember that too. We all just got along. What happened?
Sorry, I know this probably isn't meant as a serious thread,

I think a piece of it is a side-effect of multiculturalism. Places that are still mostly monocultures don't suffer as much of this malaise.

Happiest Countries in the World 2024
Since 2002, the World Happiness Report has used statistical analysis to determine the world's happiest countries. In its 2021 update, the report concluded that Finland is the happiest country in the world. To determine the world's happiest country, researchers analyzed comprehensive Gallup polling data from 149 countries for the past three years, specifically monitoring performance in six particular categories: gross domestic product per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make your own life choices, generosity of the general population, and perceptions of internal and external corruption levels.

For the US one might almost write a book like "From Melting Pot to Polyglot: The End of an Era."

I wish:
- I’d had a good mother.
- I’d been born with a good intestinal tract and a good personality so I could have a social life.
- I wish the results from the scans on why my leg hurts so much and has just about quit working had been something other than “Your back is awful!” (Direct quote from the doctor.)

I wish...I had good. kind, loving, encouraging parents... ..I would love to have known what that felt like..

I wish that I had married someone with morals...

I wish that I don't end up living in pain and poverty in my old age....

I wish my daughter has a wonderful life when I'm gone....and

I wish there was a someone here to get me a cold drink from downstairs. because after that 2 hour walk my feet are killing me... 🥵 🥤🍹

It didn't help when the media successfully made groups of people feel superior to others for personal choices. Like if you ate butter they said you were bad but if you ate margarine you were good. If you wanted to eat any part of a cow you were bad but if you wanted to adopt a mini cow as a pet, then you're good. We were simpler in the old days and we just liked each other because life wasn't so complicated by things that were not really that important.

I also wish that the SF phone app let us post more than just the “Like” icon to a reply, like the “hug” or “sad” or “laugh” or “love” icons; that’d be nice.
Tap and hold (y)LIKE until the list appears, then tap your choice.

At least it works for me in Android Chrome.

The Nursing Home won't allow me to have a cat, there would be cats and dogs all over the place. I've found cat purring vids all over YouTube I put on my headphones listening to the purr with my eyes shut until I drop off to sleep. It's not the same, but it's better than nothing.

They make super realistic life size cats now...you seriously can't tell the difference and you wouldn't have to clean kitty litter ;) (y)
The purring video is a great idea!

@TheOtherRick. Here is a pic of the super realistic life size cat I mentioned.
Does this one look like your cat? It's probably expensive.

Maybe Medicare would pay for it if you got a prescription from a doc or therapist or from the Nursing Home staff.
I imagine it would be healing for you to have.
