The appeal of High Heels

Tis The Season
Well, for myself I love high heel shoes, and always have.
BUT no longer wear them as I used to in years gone by.

If I could safely and comfortably walk in them, I would
wear them on occasion. Fun to remember the appeal

of High Heels ..

Personally, as a 5'7" male, I'm jealous that you ladies can make yourselves 2 to 6 inches taller anytime you want. For a while back in the late 70s platform heels for men were in style. Sadly that fad went out with leisure suits and disco.
That did cross my mind about how men don't have the same opportunity to get taller due to shoes. But no way can I can get anywhere near wearing 6 inch heels. I wouldn't be here today. I'd have cracked my head open trying to get somewhere on a cement sidewalk.

Back in the day, I lived in heels and always wore them to work. There was a time when the only pairs of flat shoes I owned were track flats and the original Dr. Scholls sandals. I still wear heels when the occasion calls for them.

There's high heels and there's stilettos, the latter being a thin, high, tapering heel. My lady and I have enjoyed the vintage scene for many years, old age has slowed us down but we still love getting dressed up, and for the lady that includes high heels.

This style, for both the lady and the gentleman, are known as "Spectator shoes."
Another popular style of high heels back in the 1930's was the sandal.

This was taken last summer at The Shake & Stir Festival. The lady was 73 back then, her heels are four inches high.

I love Mrs HC's shoes :)

Thank you Trish, she once said about the twin-set and pearls, archetypal little old lady look. "Shock 'em, they can take me as I am!"
That looks like a lot of work and practice but also looks like a lot of fun. And a good workout.

Happy for you and your wife for having this great way of having a fun activity together.
In our younger days we loved Latin & Ballroom dancing. In that photo we were dancing a Tango, it's always a crowd pleaser.

For myself back in the days, these were my choice of heels and
with the rounder toes, the pointed toe shoes did not work, not
that the rounded toes did, but they felt better. I stayed basic
with heels, and my color preference was always red or black.

This pic is close but it is I think four inches. for me, three inches
was more than enough..

pic won't upload...

Not only the shoes, but the fully fashioned cuban heel stockings your lady wears are an eyecatcher too.

My favourite Manager was a very smart, hardworking woman my age. I recall we talked of "if we were in charge", women would no longer have to suffer high heels, and men would no longer have to suffer neck ties.
Suffer is not a description that I would use. A neck tie, framed by a spearpoint collar, is much more preferable than no tie and and open, unbuttoned at the neck, collar.

However I do like the Aloha style Hawaiian shirt collar, it's open neck is more akin to a jacket's lapel shape.

As for ladies heels, as long as they are of the vintage style, like the ones my wife loves, most ladies love them. And as a bonus for the fellows, chances are they will get asked:

"Are my seams straight?"
