Well it finally happened to me on NextDoor,

the spammers, bots, whatever....I've had two diff "ladies" (?) contact me on the
PM chat to inquire about my health how am I doing, what am I doing, can we
communicate on other social sites, etc etc, I strung on along a few days, and today
a new one contacted me, so I reported both of them....don't need the hassle.....

I had someone swear at me by PM on Nextdoor.

He'd advertised gardening services.. and I contacted him to ask for a price to cut my hedges.

he replied, and said he could come and do it immediately, but this was winter so I said I wouldn't need it doing until April at the earliest. he said he would message me in April.

In February he sent me a PM asking when was I going to book him.. I said I didn't need him until April... he insisted that he could come right then that week.. but I told him there's frost on the ground ( which clearly he knew).. and this wasn't the right time... to be cutting hedges.

So he told me to Go F myself..

I think I had a lucky escape... he sounds unhinged..

..however I thought I would warn other women if I saw him advertising garden services again... but lo and behold, he's now reinvented himself as a decorator.. !

Every social media property is going to be hunting grounds for spammers, scammers and young Russian hooker looking entities wanting to "friend" you.

This is a first for me on nextdoor, have seen it before tho...they
think they are clever, but the wording and composition of their
messages screams scammer !!!

Hasn’t happened here, but have seen it on other sites. The main formula is “Hello Dear” and then asking if we can chat on some other site (e.g., kik, Google Chat, WhatsApp, Snapchat, etc.).

I ignore them 99% of the time. Once in a while though, I love to screw with them and lead them on a meandering chat until they finally get exasperated and leave.

Yes it seems our local site, Nextdoor, has gotten really spammy
and buggy lately, lots of newcomers suddenly lots of home
business's, just not the same.....
