Did anyone else watch the opening of Paris Olympics?

The segment was 4 and a half hours long. We recorded it last night and watched it tonight, fast forwarding through most of it. Paris really pulled out all the stops!

The city is beautiful anyway, and the ceremony was unique and spectacular. The light show at the Eiffel Tower was amazing! Also, Celine Dion basically closed it out and and sounded nothing short of great! It was good to see her back in the spotlight again after all of her health struggles.

If you can find clips, it would be well worth a watch.

I, my sister and most of my friends, thought it was spectacular! So very different from anything in the US. I loved the visual touring of the city and thought the boat parade was clever. (Covid is still rampant so smaller crowds and social distancing was well done) I saw a headline that explained the "Last Supper" section as actually being a nod to the ancient Greek pantheon - NOT the Bible. Let's go with that.

Definitely have an issue with the “Last Supper” they showed. The other problem I have is many of the Parisians are proud of it. If I could, I would suggest to Satan to start expanding.

To each his own, but this is a sporting event and they should be the center of attention and nothing like “that” should overshadow it. Save that for the Marci Gras or the parade on Halloween at Key West.

Caught parts "off&on"
And one was..Celine Dion's spectacular performance!
Will continue to 'snatch'( not glued)😉

[We did, but we're not sure what to think about a lot of it.]
[Is it really safe to have the Olympic Cauldron floating in the air via Air Balloon while lit?]

I lost interest in the Olympics back when the USA pulled out of one.
Sure, there are tons of reasons not to care anymore. Maybe ?

I only watched bits of it. Had to get to bed, worked Saturday.

The part with the beheaded women in red dresses was in poor taste. Also, I wondered if the water sprays were getting on the people in the boats. Polluted water.

Wow. I didn’t watch it but it sounds like it was magnificent. A light show @ the Eiffel Tower sounds spectacular and Celine Dion sang at the end? This is VERY good to read. Last week I just watched the movie, I am Celine , a movie which showed just how sick she was. Good for her. She a strong, courageous woman.

Thanks for the heads up seadoug.
