LOL.... and as you and I know very well Mike, there are hundreds more words...and in those examples in the link there are words and sentences that don't go together... in certain places... for example. On the west coast.. we would never say Yin.... as in ''he's pure gallas, that yin''... the yin would be replaced by Wan.. ( one )... he's pure gallas that wan... .. and so on....
I think everyone should have a word of their own. Mine is "FANTASMAGORIC". I used that in response to 'how is you today' with a Japanese co-worker. Later I found out he spent nearly three hours trying to look it up. That same person spouted a long stream of what I thought were curse words when a copier jammed and would not run his copy. I told him he shouldn't talk like that. He then asked, you speak Japanese? My simple response was, You don't know do you? We became and still are great friends.
I never picked that up. When I went to school in another state, people were shocked I was from New Jersey because they said I didn’t have a “New Jersey accent.”
After living in New York City from age 3 to age 9, I grew up in an Italian neighborhood from age10 to 19. Since they are considered part of the reason for the NY NJ accent, that might have been why it became my natural way of speaking. But I was totally unaware of it until Pennsylvanians started pointing it out. Rather embarrassing since they said that I sounded like Rocky Balboa, and I considered Rocky Balboa's way of speaking rather exaggerated and indicating mental lethargy. In the film, he described it as relaxed lol!
Althochdeutsch (Old High German is the same). Very cryptic. The example is a heroic epic from the 9th century, the "Song of Hildebrand".
I was "married" to a woman who spoke in that exact way I described. It was a bit similar to the way that the Tony Montana guy in the film Scarface spoke albeit without the benefit of Montana's vocabulary.
