It's International Left Handers Day. Anyone Here Left-Handed?

I myself am right-handed. Anyone here a leftie? Was anyone forced to use their right hand? I've heard stories of left-handed students being forced to do that.

I always used to laugh at the part in To Kill a Mockingbird when Atticus asks Bob Ewell if he is ambidextrous. His reply (paraphrased from memory): "No, sir; I can use one hand as well as the other!" šŸ˜„
I’m a lefty. My twin sister is ambidextrous.

I consider myself left handed, but really I'm ambidextrous. I write. do artwork and eat with my left hand. I can't iron using my left hand and am able to do other things with my right hand. My right hand seems to have more strength these days too. My BFF and my online bestie are both left handed. The three of us are composers and musicians.

Another southpaw here. I eat and write with my left hand, do everything else with my right hand, but I'm not ambidextrous. @hollydolly Creative? Nope.

It's nice that there's a day just for left handers.

ETA: I just thought of something funny. When I was in Germany (at age 40 the first time), I wrote with my left hand and had braces. Imagine the comments from the northpaws and the comments about braces on a grown woman.

I wonder if that's some of the reason that teachers would force left handers to write with their right hand? My Dad was left handed, but he was forced to write with his right. He was in grammar school in the '20's.
My teachers tried to get me to write with my right hand when I was in grammar school. I guess they gave up. I got certificates for excellent penmanship using my left hand too. My handwriting was beautiful back in the day, but has changed over time.

Being a keyboardist wouldn’t really matter though. You use both hands just like most people.

Right. But I mentioned our creativity because it was mentioned that left handed people tend to be creative (of course I can't find that reply now). And from what I read about you being able to use your right hand too, it seems like you might be ambidextrous Patty.

It was Holly who stated that left handed people are more creative and yes I’m ambidextrous but use my right hand the most.

You were considered to be deficient or having an abnormality that needed to be 'corrected'. Right-hand neurologists view Left handedness to be a sign of brain damage.
I always assumed it was viewed as something needing to be fixed, but being right handed, I never thought about kids getting smudged with graphite or ink. All Dad would say was the he was forced to learn to use his right hand. All very sinister, if you ask me. No, I couldn't resist.
