Would also like to say I despise most Rap and Hip Hop Music

Sorry. You wanna call women “b**ches” and “h**” I cannot agree with your “art”.

I’m saying this today on the eve of the convention because I’m sooo afraid this is the message we will get this week - that all Hip Hop and Rap are wonderful, we should feed it to our grandchildren, and ain’t all “art” great?

Would they make this message with say, Bach or Beethoven? No, because those dead guys are not trying to SELL RECORDS.

This is the other reason I will not be watching this week-long commercial. It’s just like the Olympics. Every time they showed a celebrity in the audience they were doing a Free Commercial for them. I will not be watching this week-long commercial.

Where is the badly needed new infrastructure in MY area? Oh, it’s “on the way”? What year? 2030? That is my question for all of these wealthy people: show me your work - show it to me IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD.

Not all hip hop or rap songs are crude or have lyrics that promote violence. There are many hip hop songs and a few rap songs that I enjoy that don't promote those things.

I could easily list many rock songs that are also crude or have lyrics that promote violence but of course that is OK with many because........? I'll let each person figure that out for themselves.

I don’t understand or care for much of it.

My only real complaint is for those people that insist on blaring it from their car stereos as they drive through the neighborhood.

The lyrics that I find inappropriate or offensive fall into the same category as violence in video games, television, movies, etc…

I don’t know what if any effects they have on the people that enjoy them.

Older folks criticized many of my choices when I was young and I grew up to be a law abiding taxpayer. 😉🤭😂

Please don't imply I'm a racist because I don't like rap. My playlist I listen to every day is almost entirely made up of music by black singers.

Ray Charles on rap: "“You have to remember I’m a musician, so rap doesn’t do anything for me; I can’t learn anything from it. Rap is like reciting poetry--I could do that when I was 7. All you have to do is match (the words) with the rhythm. That’s nothing. That’s [expletive]."

People have different likes and dislikes when it comes to the sound of the music. I can understand why people might not like rap or even hip hop because it is a different type of sound. Personally I was never a fan of the extreme heavy metal bands and bluegrass music.

All I was just trying to suggest is not all hip hop songs or rap songs are crude or have lyrics to incite violence. Of course many songs do fit that category but that is no different from many rock songs in the past.

And I did state that I would let each person figure it out for themselves because there was a time when many of us were younger that we heard the same thing from the previous generation about rock and roll in it's early years .

Give me Rock & Roll, Classical, and Folk music...

I don't mind some Rock music.

I cannot bear Heavy Metal..CRap - or Trad Jazz

I think you are a bit younger than I...
I admit, some Country music is ok, but the guys with all the twang and country slurs make me sick...although I was in high school when Motown was big, again... I like some of it, but generally not for me... What about Classical Music do you like it? I especially like going to a concert and watching it being played...

As for Rock and Roll.....if you like this one, you really are into Classic Rock! Iron Butterfly's "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida"

Well you are more well rounded in music than most...but, it is not Iron Maiden. It is Iron Butterfly, the name of the group who first performed "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" which is a 45 minute musical rock song...they did cut a short version, but it is not worth listening to...

I agree with VintageBetter, I do not care for any music that denegrates women or anyone else for that matter. But I am stuck in the past as I appreciate mostly the R&R and Motown music I grew up with in the 60's and 70's. I do like some country music but not much of the twangy stuff from the 40's thru 60's. Some of the country tunes have good stories to tell. I also like a lot of the music from my parents time, especially the 40's big band era which I listen to occasionally on Siriux XM as that is about the only place you can find it.

well I've never even heard of them ....so I'll refrain from even googlin' them...:ROFLMAO:

Boy you can sure tell that music is a very emotional art form with how people have such strong opinions of it. I told someone once I like bagpipe music (I do!) and never heard the end of how much of a loser that makes me. Shrug.
Well I wouldn't call you a loser.. but I'm a Scot through and through... and believe me I hate bagpipe music, as so many other Scots do too..:ROFLMAO:

Rap/HipHop and Country. Hate them both. Never listen to them. Hated Country all my life. Hated Rap since I first heard it.
I used to like Country, back when they had real Country artists, and not the plastic, cross over garbage like Kid Rock and other all-sound-alike music employees of County Music Industry.
