At an intersection- which is better a round about or stop light?

Holy moly! Looks like you’ve even got designated areas for hoodlums to conduct their sideshows. And I thought there were parking spots marked off in there too. I wouldn’t be fond of this one but simple circle with multiple entryways is much more efficient.

What I did not like when driving in the UK were the high clipped hedgerows growing right up to and in some cases over the nearest lane of traffic. Bloody “L”, mates?!
Hoodlums to conduct their sideshows?.. what does that mean ?

Here is a local one to me if you’re able to see it.

Basically these guys just take over stretches of the public streets to do spinouts and other tricks with their cars and hang out having a good time and obstructing the rest of us. You’re not missing anything.

Every morning there's a back up at a stop light, people going to NYC to work.
They put in a roundabout. But there are business, whose driveways are attached to the roundabout. So, you can turn left in the roundabout to keep going on your road, or turn right to get into a Rite Aid and a bank. I think its badly designed. I feel it going to be crash city until they come up with a workable option.

That just sounds badly designed.

they never do that here...Good lord !!

Roundabouts are most prevalent where someone on the city council has a road construction Brother-In-Law.
Great graft generators. :censored:

roundabouts are easier and quicker,,i have driven in europe lots of time, and find the roundabouts there just as easy,,

we have 3 here. I like them it keeps the traffic flowing.my wife would go out of her way to avoid them.i seen a fender bender yesterday in a busy round about.both were stuck with no where to go.i barely got around in time.it was a mess.

A nearby small town (4.1 mi) has TWO of the rotten roundabouts within 2 blocks of each other.
And, of course the DMV uses both for the driving test. 🤪:poop:rockaround.JPG

We had the round abouts/or circles, as we called them/, for as long as I can remember. They were intended to keep traffic moving safely and in a steady motion. More cars after WWII brought about more accidents. So we have removed most of them and have jug handles with traffic lights.

When you go from driving on the right to driving on the left in a different country, you need to pay close attention to what you are doing.

There used to be a roundabout near here that had a small cemetery in the center. Not sure if it is still there.

When I drive in Europe I have to drive on the right...compared to driving on the left in the UK...

In Spain I have to drive on the right, and remember to go around the roundabouts the opposite way.. meaning giving way to traffic from the left...

In Cyprus, they drive on the left the same as us in the Uk...

Malta , India, Pakistan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, Australia.. Japan, Ireland, several African countries, Indonesia.. just to name a few countries who all drive on the left the same as the UK
In fact 35 % of the worlds' population drive on the left !

Brits love round-abouts at intersections. They recently installed one near me. For me, it's hard to get used to. American don't use round-abouts much, and we're not that skilled in driving through them.
Which would you rather have at an intersection? A round-about or a stop light? Which do you hate?

I posted this in the wrong forum.
I prefer roundabouts but too many other seniors seem clueless as to the rules. Remedial training at license renewal is needed.

Off topic side issue...

Another revived older thread by new members. I prefer they do so like this by first searching versus starting a similar thread about the same subject that may result in members having to annoyingly repeat what they've already posted. :)

Moved to an apartment in a new state. When I got off the freeway with the u-haul, there were 3 roundabouts before my apartment.

They are everywhere here in Missouri. And unfortunately, there are many people that don’t get them. I’m constantly behind someone who just stops or I have to watch someone who randomly changes lanes in the two lane roundabouts. I don’t think Americans are ready for them.

We have 26,000 roundabouts in the uk... we're pretty used to them... we also have thousands of intersections and 4/5 way crossways with traffic lights, .. we're used to those too

Apparently the British are the best drivers in the world.. because the majority drive manual cars on roads barely wide enough for one car let alone 2, avoiding not only other vehicles coming the opposite direction, but horse and farm animals on many of our roads too.... and navigate roundabouts, cross sections.. traffic to accommodate 70 million people on the roads of an island smaller than Oregon,
What makes someone driving a manual a good driver?

A round about is just expensive B.S. Destroys 4 corners & $Millions in economic development. Basically a PITA.
Think of how hard it is for a group of Power chairs to pass thru. Just to get a Sandwich and Big Gulp at the metro mart.
Where are the Homeless to stand and panhandle. Kids on Skateboards to go.

I'm not posting because I would be posting in the wrong forum. 2 wrongs don't make a right. 😁
But a roundabout is always right.....

We had two intersections on either side of a bridge with the interstate ramps, no lights. Traffic would get backed up at times and a bunch of wrecks. when they decided to go with roundabouts vs lights, we all bet a disaster in the future, but actually worked out very well.

I've experienced a couple of R/As, and while I was okay with them, I found other drivers tended to be unsure of what they were doing or where they were going. So because of that, I much prefer stoplights.

However, it seems like "red light running" has become a sport here in Texas, and its darn scary.
It is also darn expensive:)
