Oasis, would you spend your hard earned cash to watch them?

Considering that I was 32 when their first album came out then I was part of their target audience and there was no streaming back then (obviously). I did buy CD's at the time instead of albums but I had a full stereo setup at the time. And no one told me to like them, I made the choice on my own ;)
I can't help you.

Nope.. I definitely wouldn't spend any money to go and see them. I like them don't get me wrong.. but I can see and hear more of them on TV or on Youtube than I'd ever hear or see in a concert hall with 2000 screaming fans!

However I do think that fans are going to get stung for thousands to see this reunion Concert

No have to disagree they don't shout & scream.. they do play some great music...

I never used the word 'scream' Holly, but perhaps they could improve their performance if they did.
There is nothing musical about that fella's voice, it's sounds like a boring 'drone'.

yep I was in my 30's too.. I wasn't a big fan, and still not, altho' I like some of their stuff, but they have a HUGE fan base.. all those people can't be wrong can they ? ..I mean look there was people who likes Elvis Presley.. FGS...no accounting for taste..

Rich...singers !
That doesn't make them good singers, just brilliant 'con' men.
Oh yeh, and 470 million views doesn't mean 470 million people like them, it could well be that just 10 million sad people watched them 47 times.

No it can't every view is recorded only once .. so if someone watches it 200 times they are recorded as just having watched it Once!!

Night night, Holly, I've enjoyed our little discussion, but, lovely girl that you are, I can't match you for energy.

Sleep well. 😊

We were traveling through some hardly-populated area of Arizona, with great desert scenery. There was a bus and other sizable vehicles parked at a wide spot in the highway. A logo on bus said Oasis. We stopped & got out. There’d been a photo shoot and there were cameras on serious tripods, as well as reflectors and lighting equipment, and thick power cables sprawled across the ground. Various people were in the process of winding it all down and stowing equipment away. We didn’t see the musicians were they in the bus, or off somewhere not far from there, eating or drinking beer, or…?

But there was an indigenous man, maybe 60-years old sitting by himself on a bench, in more or less traditional clothes (though not showy like the fancy stuff sometimes warn at modern powwows). We walked over to him, and I sat down and started talking with him a relaxed situation. He’d apparently been a featured ambience figure in a video sequence. He told me he didn’t know the group’s music, but someone had told him “they’re like the Beatles" [meaning famous] he seemed amused. Also seemed puzzled as to why the director wanted him for the vid. He said he didn’t know Oasis's music. I didn’t either, though I’d probably heard one or two things on CBC radio.

I never learned how many days had been required for the shoot in this location. I’m sure the guy was well paid for his time while he was utilized for the vid.

But I’ve sometimes wondered about that music-video to augment a particular song, and I never saw it. Anybody know?

I'm a music lover, and therefore have no interest whatsoever in Oasis and what they do. :D

The mass hysteria going on right now because of some live performances is just typical popular madness. The gossip columns are buzzing, the fear of missing out is great, demand is high. I can watch it abstractly as people get worked up about a totally irrelevant topic. But that's just me.

Here's a little advice: If you want to see somebody, go see them. Everybody is aging and these acts won't live forever.

I missed out on the Allman Brothers, Tom Petty, several others who passed before I had the chance to see them.

At a time there were numerous rumors that the Beatles were going to reunite for a concert. Even Lorne Michaels half jokingly offered them $3000 to reunite on SNL. Of course that wasn't much money even back then. If there had been a reunion, I wonder how much people would have paid to see that. Don't get me wrong, I am not comparing Oasis to the Beatles but there is a price that people will pay for such events, no matter how high the ticket price is.

After reading this thread I have come to the conclusion that the music of our generation is perhaps the one main thing that many of us cling to as we get older. Many will fight and defend the music they grew up listening to and claim it as the "best". Even though this is a Senior Forum there are distinct age differences within the forum and I don't think any other topic points that out more than music. People don't cling on to the movies, TV shows, or books of their youth as intensely .

I guess music hits a special emotional nerve for many of us and that is a good thing. And I suppose that is why there will always be the generational gaps when it comes to music because music is always changing. For the old it is not a good change but for the young, it is an exciting change.

Oasis? Who?
Maybe if I was still 16-29, and they were the best band I ever heard, I'd pay big bucks for a concert. Concerts aren't for hearing the band play, they are for the audience to show how much they love the music.
