Nope..I've tried most of them, expensive and cheaper.. there's no difference in any of them aside from the one which are sulphate free..so that's what I use..

My special shampoo is whatever bargain brand is on special. 
A few drops of Dawn will do in a pinch.

I use Nature's Gates shampoos. It's hard to find them now since Whole Foods stopped carrying them years ago but I do load up when I do find them. I use many different formulas with my favorite being jojoba. I never did try the awapuhi shampoo if I can find it I will. My hair loves this brand and will not behave itself otherwise. It's a good product.

Having long, thick , curly hair, I definitely know there’s a huge difference in shampoo. Natures Gate is a great brand made with wholistic ingredients. An added benefit is the natural scent.
I’m really fussy about hair products and have to be or my hair turns into a mass frizz ball.

Never used it. As @chic seems to allude to, other hair care manufacturers use the Awapuhi ingredient too.
For the more daring among us, buy the plant and squeeze out the ingredients yourself. It seems the Polonisians have been using it for centuries.

I used to use a Paul Mitchell spray with awapui. I think it was maybe a leave in conditioner. I loved it.

I didn't realize it purported to repair dry, damaged hair, though. Maybe it's time to give it another go. I try to buy shampoos that will help with that.

I used to use lemon Joy dish detergent. I received some compliments of how great my hair looked than and people were surprised when I told them what I used for shampoo when they asked. Hey, soap is soap.

Kinda the same here; since my hair is super-oily, I've used dish detergent with pretty good results.

I like Pureology. At first glance it seems kind of expensive BUT i buy the econo 33.8 fl oz jug & it lasts me at least a full year. Really good stuff IMHO.

I'll have to check that out since it's Amazon's fault Nature's Gate shampoos were discontinued in the first place.

I prefer to use shampoos that have been developed only by "Marketing People", where the ingredients have no real world association. Or at the very least have hyped up ingredient names that describe real ingredients that would otherwise seem mundane.
Any shampoo with "AquaMaris Complex"; "Vita-Spheres"; "Nutrium 10"; "Revolutionary Moisture Complex"; "Pro-Vitamin Complex"; "Phyto-Keratin Liquid Crystals"; "NanoShield Lubricant Complex" is fine by me. The more ingredients of this type, the merrier. Because I'm worth it!
The above list of ingredients from the Book of One Thousand and One Marketing Phrase, probably.
Actually, now I think again, that last one I mentioned might have been in an Engine Oil I recently purchased?
When i find a shampoo with made up phrases such as, Vortex-Activated Botanical Complex, & or Simplex; Hydro-Magnetec Infusion; Elixir of Narcissistic Extract, I will know my search for the ultimate shampoo is finally over.
Any shampoo with "AquaMaris Complex"; "Vita-Spheres"; "Nutrium 10"; "Revolutionary Moisture Complex"; "Pro-Vitamin Complex"; "Phyto-Keratin Liquid Crystals"; "NanoShield Lubricant Complex" is fine by me. The more ingredients of this type, the merrier. Because I'm worth it!

I like Dove shampoo & conditioner. I only shampoo my hair once a week or so now, but rinse and condition it daily.
Because my hair is curly and can frizz, after lightly towel drying I apply a dime sized amount of leave-in conditioner. The spendy option is Caviar Creme ($20+ for 5.1 oz), but I often use L'Oreal Elvive ($5/5.1 oz) Caviar Creme is superior but I save it for special occasions.
To revive my curls if they've flattened I wet my hands and work in a little Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine anti-frizz serum.
Dish soap like Dawn can a great occasional clarifying option because it strips out all the oils, but can extremely drying and damaging to hair when used everyday.
