What are we supposed to buy for Labor Day?

For Xmas, you have to buy out the entire store. For Valentine's Day, you have to buy candy & flowers. For President's Day, you have to buy a mattress. And nothing says "Memorial Day" like a new fridge, and other kitchen appliances. Etc. etc. So, what are we supposed to buy for Labor Day? It must be the same with UK, OZ holidays.

Nothing big... just picnic food! Hamburgers, 🍔 potato salad, baked beans, chips, and cheesecake. (y) Maybe there's nothing big like a mattress sale because all the retailers know that as soon as Labor Day is past, the push for HalloThanksMas will begin.

Why do you feel obliged to buy anything? We don't have 'Labor/Labour day' in the UK but any holiday is an excuse for a knees-up.
