Hi, y'all. @hearlady You'll get better soon. Because I said so. @hawkdon You be careful going for your stroll today!

Today's good news is that our temps are coming down. Today might not even make it to 90 and the rest of the week going steadily down so that by the end of the week only mid- to high-70s. Yay!!

We had a surprise thunderstorm Thursday night, but the promises of more Friday night and last night were empty promises. However...we might get some rain this afternoon. No guarantee, but where there's life, there's hope, right?

This every two hours with the drops stuff is really getting to me. By 8 last night after the final drops for the day were done, I was feeling so far down I'd have had to reach up to scratch a snake's belly and just went to bed (because I couldn't find a snake's belly to scratch).

One of the eye drops is to ward off infection, and I'm done with those on Tuesday. I have no idea how long I have to use the steroid drops but have a phone appointment on Tuesday so will ask the nice doc. The third kind is just to use twice a day. I can handle that.

The worst part of all this is that there's no gardening allowed for four weeks. Four!!! Weeks!!! That's cruel and unusual punishment😭

I refuse to let this :poop: rule my day again so started off by asking DD to take me somewhere, anywhere, just to get out of here for a bit. As it turned out, it was time for me to replenish my cash stash, and we went to the ATM, then to McD's for free coffee using her McD's points. She has agreed to take me for a spin again around noon. Actually, we're going to the park to feed the geese and ducks. No bread allowed. We feed them peas.

We already know that @RadishRose is off to spoil the baby, @Capt Lightning is painting the ceiling and @-Oy- is going to feed piggies. Wonder what kind of monkey business @Trila and @hollydolly are up to today?

Happy to know you're getting out again @Georgiagranny .... that's good news.. only 4 days after the procedure...(y)

It's hot here and sunny today here..I;ve been in the garden but I'm just feeling like being in the heat today..

I've been looking at the video again of the flat in London that I'm going to see in person soon... and I just can't rid myself of how it looks small...

they say the bedroom is big enough for a king size bed, but the livingroom is very small.. and it has the kitchen in the livingroom if you see what I mean.. and I don't like that.. so I'm starting already to have second thoughts.

i really want it to be great..I don't want to risk moving after all these years, and be unhappy ..

In the meantime.. after a few weeks of hearing nothing.. I heard from the lawyers yesterday and the Very soon2Bex, has doubled his offer. I;m still not accepting, not because I'm greedy..but because it's still far too low.... so I'll be speaking to my lawyer this week to see where we go from here..

@hollydolly At least you heard from them, and double isn't enough, but it's progress. Could be that he's getting tired of it dragging on and on, too. Fingers crossed🤞

I think I understand what you're saying about the kitchen in the living room. It's open plan? If that's the case, where's the dining room?
 
Although this Covid bout has left me with a residual cough, otherwise I'm feeling like myself again. Hoping @hearlady and her hubby are also back in the pink again soon.

@RadishRose, how fun!!! I know you'll have a great day and they'll undoubtedly be thrilled with your thoughtful tray of mac & cheese.

@Georgiagranny, I understand about the hassle of the drops, but what about your vision? Haven't you noticed it to be remarkably clearer with colors more vibrant since the surgery (when drops aren't clouding it, of course)?

No dining room, currently they have a small dining table in the livingroom .... and no space in the kitchen for a table..

..and what with no space for my larder freezer... .. although a Fridge freezer can fit in the kitchen, a tumble dryer or dishwasher cannot..

As there is a laundrette walking distance away, the tD isn't too much of a problem.. however the Freezer is another thing.

When I mentioned my concerns to the agent, he said ..the second bedroom has enough space...well I don't want a freezer in a bedroom..

The pros are that it's in a lovely upmarket area of West London... it has 2 tube stations within walking distance or a short drive.. going directly into the city

It has a great shopping area.. within a 5 or 10 minute walk...

Within a few minutes walk there are 2 very nice parks...

The flat has a Wet room ( altho' no windows ) ... but it also has an En Suite.. which currently believe it or not the owners are using as an office.. There's a small Balcony with French Doors

There is security cameras all around the apartments.. an there are communal area cleaners on site...

The Cons are that it's ground floor... I'm very afraid of noise from above

There's no door separating the kitchen area from the livingroom, altho' I could get double doors made I think...

the livingroom looks very small indeed. Currently there's only one sofa, a small dining table.. and a small glass table in there..

There's no outside storage.. well there is.. but apparently it's communal..no thanks,


of course until I see it in person I can't know.. but for now I'm beginning to get cold feet , and I so want this to be my forever home

What is this.

Is there an island between the kitchen and LR? Do you regularly eat at a DR table. Many people are getting rid of DRs, because they never use them. I follow home decorating sites on FB. Layouts seem very different from here. Many, maybe most, homes here are open concept.

Dug through paperwork to come up with beneficiary details to use at two new financial institutions. This time I'll be sure to keep it with other papers I need frequent access to. I just don't keep track of kids' SSNs for anything else.

a wet room ?...its a bathroom with a shower including a toilet and sink..they are fabulous for anyone with mobility problems... there's no stepping in and out of a shower

No I don't need a dining room at all.not looking for one.. but I already eat on a tray in my own home, and I was hoping for space for a dining table... in the new place.

I realise London is one of the most expensive places in the world to buy, and affordable apartments are very often on the small side.. but I'm so use to all this space here.. no-one above me..or below.. my garden, all the storage space etc... all the light in my bathrooms.. my big livingroom.. I'm just starting to get worried that's all just going to be too claustrophobic

Sharing some health issues.

I have been a member of Kaiser Permanente Health Plan (kp.org) since 1970. For the last 20 years, I had sometimes a DEXA bone density study. Two months ago, my PCP told me that I am at the borderline of Osteoporosis and ordered another DEXA test. The specialist reviewing the result emailed me that I am at risk of bone fractures, and ordered that I am taking generic Fosamax once a week, as well as other dietary supplements. In two years, I will have a follow-up DEXA study to see whether my bone density has again increased.

For nail fungus, my dermatologist ordered a year ago JUBLIA (efinaconazole.) The pharmacist told me, when I asked, that the one-year treatment cost >$6K for which I had a small co-payment. On my last visit, my dermatologist assured me the fungus is healed, and that I can discontinue the treatment.

In 1997, I had cataract surgeries in both eyes. For about 20 years, I had a fabulous vision although I needed reading glasses. Then my eyesight started deteriorating. On my last DMV eye test, I was ordered to use again glasses when driving. Yes, I started having difficulties reading street signs some distance away while driving.

My next project is to shed, or at least to lower, my 15 pounds overweight. From experience I know that I can succeed only when nothing distracts me, and when I have nothing to worry about. Just concentrating on gradually decreasing my calories intake, eating only healthy food, and keep on walking with my pups.

Nope about the colors. Not one bit of difference at all, but my vision wasn't cloudy before the surgery. ETA: Oops. Forgot to say that right after surgery and for the next day, everything was cloudy!

When I first get up in the morning, vision is a bit blurred until my eyes adjust, then clear unless trying to read tiny print. That's when I use the readers.

We went to the park and fed peas to the geese and ducks. We'll go out again around 3:30-4.

ETA: almost forgot! @hollydolly You might want to give more thought to the lack of space for washer/dryer. It may only be a few steps to the laundromat, but just speaking from my own experience, those few steps turn into a long slog when you're toting laundry...especially heavy, wet laundry.

LOL about the "wet room." Here it's called 3/4 bath. That is, toilet, sink, shower but no tub.

Without knowing dimensions of the rooms and without having seen it, if it were me, I'd put it on the list to consider but keep on looking. Just don't forget to take a tape measure with you when you view it! Another ETA: Room for a freezer, too.

My mother said the same thing. However it's been 3 years since I began looking..... so I'm not exactly rushing.. and tbh.. I have to do it while I'm still able to make a big move and while I'm still able to enjoy whatever social life there is in a new place..

No I think you misunderstand about the wet room... it's bathroom with no steps into the shower... so in essence the whole floor gets wet when you shower altho' there's a drain in the middle of the floor..

My daughter has one...

Okay, got it. A 3/4 bath here has the drain in the shower. I don't think I'd much like the possibility of slip-sliding around on a wet floor in the whole room!
