A Question For Canadian Pensioners

When I retired I didn't apply for the GIS because I knew I didn't qualify.

Yet every year the government (service canada) sends me a notice that I don't qualify for GIS. WTF I already know that. Knew that from day one.

Does anybody else get these types of useless money wasting notices

Maybe it's because no one has to apply for it and it will come if one's income is too low. They might be letting people know in case they wonder if they qualify.

It is NOT a waste of money. Informing the public about services that BENEFIT them, is hardly a waste of money. If the notice doesn't apply to YOU, IGNORE IT. I volunteer at a senior's community center, and in some cases I have been able to direct a person towards a Government program ( either Provincial or Federal ) that they didn't know about, that helped them in some meaningful way. The Guaranteed Income Supplement is just one of them. JIM.
