Jim, Here's my modern love. 2021 C8 Corvette....but the '57 will always be my favorite....:)

I drive the Vette about 2500 miles a year. The '57 about 500-1000. Have had it for 21 years. My 5th and last '57. 1st was in 1974...50 years ago!
Specs on the '57: 327/300hp (cam, heads, intake, headers), Muncie 4-speed, 3:55 posi rear. Manual steering and factory drum brakes. It's a great old classic but a bit hot to drive in the heat of summer....:)

Would that 327 have the fuelie heads with stainless steel valves ? I have a friend here who has a shop who specializes in resto mod work. He replaces the factory drum brakes with front and rear discs, and newer front axles for tri 50's cars. I have been buying old engines in a partnership with him for the last year.

We recently found an original 426 Hemi that was sitting in a barn. Bought it for $1200, spent $3500 in parts and machine shop work, and sold it for $7500, and he did the install at his shop for a further $2500. It went into a 65 Dodge Polara that had previously had a 225 slant 6 motor in it. The 65 was really clean so a new high power engine was a good investment.

We sometimes buy rust free southern US cars, to bring them up to the Toronto area, to resell. Canadian import taxes are zero on vehicles older than 25 years , so we look for 60's to 70's performance cars that are runners with solid floors and frames. A $5000 car in Georgia, can be worth ( with some work and a new paint job and upholstery ) as much as $20,000 up here. We also buy rust free doors, hoods trunk lids and gas tanks for the same vintage cars. JIMB.
