Settle an argument about airfryers

Ours is integrated in our gas stove. We bought it in 2021. The option is to use the traditional oven or the airfryer. (It eliminates the problem of not having enough counterspace). We like it. We mostly grill, we do not use it often, but it works well. Most of the recipes are designed for a smaller above the counter airfryer, that might cause some problems for some people.
My oven has both a regular and induction setting so it’s the same as an air fryer. I hate having a bunch of small kitchen appliances.

This is the type I have. It has just one basket which is big enough for 2 people, and more than enough for me on my own. When I got home tonight, I popped some Calamari into the AF, and it was done in 5 minutes.. the time it took me to get out of my outdoor clothes.. and wash my hands..

Your people must be very small. I could never get two of me in there.

I do too.
To be honest I was not looking for an airfryer, it turned out that this gas stove had 5 burners and a decent oven, that was why we mainly chose it. Once delivered, we noticed it had the airfryer as well! My neighbor had an airfryer and raved about it. We were curious about that type of cooking, so once we had it, we used it a few times. It turned out really good.

Had an air fryer now for about 3 years. It has multiple settings - air fryer, oven, toaster, one or two others. I find the air fryer does frozen french fries pretty well, but the oven setting is best for tater tots. A frozen pizza works pretty well on the oven setting, but certainly not the air fryer.

..in my AF it cooks Pizza very well..altho' I can't speak for frozen because I never buy that...

I have the toaster oven with convection setting. I don't cook very often but did find it works well.
Oh and of course it toasts bread too...😜
..air fryers don't.
Mine does. "Toaster" is just another setting on the machine, along with Air Fryer, Bake, Broil, convection bake, convection broil. In fact, I don't even have a toaster -- I just use the machine.

Great for chicken and rewarming pizza. Also for boats and bangers. Would I buy another. If I had a big kitchen space, yes. But I don’t so I won’t.

Yeah, it's like a mini-oven. It uses a lot less power than a full-size oven and heats up in just a few minutes, so it's definitely more convenient. It's just the right size for two people.
Agree. I love using my toaster/convection oven. Thanks to a 2017 down-to-the-studs kitchen remodel, I have miles of counter and cabinet space.

We have an ongoing debate about airfryers in our house. My husband insists it would transform our lives but I don't want one. I am a traditional cook, I like my oven. I don't want a great big gadget taking up room on my worktops and having learn how to use it and clean it. Worse still, if we hardly use it at all it's a waste of money.

Is it really worth the money?
Hi, Rose and everyone: I love my air fryer...I am in an RV and I have a gas stove I don't really like lol. I love traditional cooking also. I can see both ways. For me, it really does the trick, my gas stove, and oven leave a film is a pain. I love my RV I am glad I found a good way to improvise. I found another good recipe for Spice Cake. I don't like sugar anymore and I use Coconut oil my Mom gave me that idea. She always gives me good cooking tips. My late Nana was an excellent cook too. Lots of hugs to you guys!

Spice Cake, Yummy!

I wouldn't want one like that..I feel I'd be as well using the oven... :D
This is the same style as one of the two I have. This will do anything an oven will, only quicker. You should give one a try.
We got the one similar to yours first and really liked it so when Annie saw this style I went and bought it too. We liked it so much that we got one for her sister for Christmas that year. Apparently, they use it almost every day.
I got one for my younger brother, who doesn't like cooking, but he uses this a lot. He doesn't like cleaning up after himself either, but he tells me that he finds this easier to clean than his frying pans.
Now, if I can just convince him to buy better food to cook in it.

... this is my second one ..

my air fryer, used twice,is in the cupboard in the utility room,,food cooced in it tastes naff, chips taste awfull.

I love our air fryer but we still use our oven. We mainly use our air fryer for making French fries, breaded frish and breaded chicken which we have occasionally. We don’t eat a lot of breaded foods but do like them once in a while. I don’t like using the air fryer for cooking meats. It makes a huge mess.
