Should The Menendez Brothers Be Set Free?

According the news reports I saw, new evidence surfaced about the abuse they claimed caused them to kill their parents. The DA is now reviewing those pieces of evidence. A member of the boy band Menudo came forward and said the boys' father, a record company exec, had sexually assaulted him too. There was also a letter one of the brothers had written to his cousin insinuating the abuse was still happening. The issue of abuse was not allowed to be admitted as evidence in court.

There is a movement now to get the brothers, who have served 30 years of their life sentence. (with no parole) Even their parents' siblings are asking that they be freed. Here's the video report:

In todays environment 30 years later there's a real good chance they'll be let free. They killed them which isn't the question but motive. The prosecution could argue unless the killings happened during or right after an assault it is still a premeditated murder.

I think the TV show 48 Hours did a segment on this this year.

They were 18 and 21 when they killed their parents. It seems like, at that age, they could have taken a different approach to expose the problem and free themselves from their alleged abuse.

Well according to one of the brothers, they were afraid they would be killed if they exposed what was going on in their household. Could they just have left...maybe. Would their father have had them found and done harm? Maybe. I find it very interesting that their aunts and uncles want them freed. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
