The Best Chain Restaurants in the U.S.

It’s interesting but I’m skeptical about the results being based on Google reviews.

Are people with a problem more likely to leave a review than happy people? 🤔

I go to the McDonalds near my home a couple times each year and look for them when traveling mainly because they are familiar, inexpensive, and consistent.

A few comments, IMO

Red Lobster is awful.

I like Cheesecake Factory and have been there at least a half dozen times and always had the same dish- "Chicken Biaggio", because I love it! I never did have their cheesecake, always too full.

Olive Garden- not so good, but I do like their rigatoni bolognese and their creamy chicken soup with gnocchi

Fridays- awful.

I've generally avoided all those on the lists. Have to admit that a couple decades ago, due to job-related circumstances, I very occasionally had lunch at an A&W. It was a matter of available time & convenience.

I'm sure there's a similar list of worst-rated franchise pizza purveyors. I've steered clear of those, and (besides making my own) have had superbly prepared meals at independent Italian restaurants or pizzerias.

I agree

We haven't been to a "chain" restaurant in years. There are a half dozen family owned restaurants in our area that we visit every few weeks that serve excellent meals at a better price than these "chains". We still like to get a cup of McDonalds coffee, but that's about it.

It really depends on where the restaurant is located and If the locality draws quality workers or not.

When traveling through more rural areas, for example, you can often find a better experience.

Places with a manager on duty tend to be better.

Unless bad, people don’t usually leave ratings for chain restaurants.

In Vegas, I went out of my way to eat at Bobby Flay’s Burger. I walked right past Gordon Ramsay’s Burger.

On the best list, they can keep Chik-fil-A and 5 Guys.

I’d happily eat at In ’N OUT, if I wanted a quick lunch.

The second list of bad restaurants - we don’t have most of these but I liked several of them, or at least I used to when I had a chance to go there while travelling. I accepted that they weren’t fine dining.

I loved RL’s biscuits and Caesar salad. DH had fresh fish and I probably had shrimp. It’s been years. I bought a box of the RL biscuit mix. Threw it in the garbage.

McDonald's and Popeye's are the only two I'm familiar with. I've ordered to-go a couple times in the past from Popeyes, not too bad for breaded deep fried stuff. McDonald's when traveling, is familiar, consistent and OK, not quite as greasy as some fast food.

I had to do an online search to see how, exactly, Bucciferro Family McDonald's differed from McDonald's. Isn't every McDonald's a franchise? The Bucciferro franchise must be pretty good if it stands out that much.

Like @Aunt Bea, I don't really trust Google reviews because, as she mentioned, people are more likely to leave a review after a bad experience than after a positive one.

I dine out only very rarely, and it's usually with one of my daughters. We tend to stick to regional chains (e.g., Sickie's), with varying results. I avoid local establishments because the service is usually poor and the people unfriendly. At least at a chain people are held—or attempted to be held, anyway—to a certain standard.

There seem to be a lot of people who don't read the polls because the ones mentioned in the two lists seem to be doing landoffice business in our area. Except for the Red Lobsters, which even before they closed several of them down, didn't seem to have a lot of business except the ones in the busy tourists district.
