New TV Series CBS Matlock

Kathy Bates is excellent in it. Everybody else is a monodimensional stereotype delivering dialog recycled from every Lawyer show that preceded it.
As for the show itself, This kind of formula drivel is beneath her talents.
Maybe it would be better if they were Lawyers on a cruise ship.
 
I did not like the old Matlock with Andy Griffth so I bet I wouldn't like the new one. Defending the rich for a $100,000. Really! With the high cost of living and a war starting, I don't have the time for new TV shows. Sorry!

Yeah, the show's chief draw is Kathy Bates, who is very watchable and charismatic in her role. At 76, she's probably not getting a lot of roles offered where she is the major star. And she's certainly getting a very healthy pay check.

I'm not sure why they waited a month to drop the 2nd episode.

It does seem odd.

With streaming, we’ve been conditioned to want instant gratification ( i.e.keep the shows coming right away).

Will regular tv shows last?
 
I just saw an interview and she said she's lost 100 lbs. The last 20 with ozempic.
She looks very different and says she feels great.

You have a point about Bates. She's uber solid in her role, but in the 2nd episode it started going in a rather hinky direction. We'll watch another 1 or 2 to reserve judgement. I'm not sure why they waited a whole month between the 1st and 2nd episodes.

I did not watch the whole episode. I was glued to the first one

I don’t watch made up TV dramas that just don’t happen in real life where the good guy always comes out on top. People that hire lawyers to fix their problems don’t always come out on top. Even Geragos looses cases. Reminds me of the old Perry Mason series where he never lost a case. It’s like knowing the ending before the show even gets close to being over. It’s all been done before.
