There's a mole on the lower right hand side of my chin. Back in my late teens, at my doctor's for an insurance medical, the doctor said, after giving me the all clear: "Any problems you want to tell me about?" Explaining my dislike for that mole I asked if it was possible to remove it. "Cosmetic surgery can do that for you," the doctor replied, then added: "I wouldn't recommend it."
He went on to say: "It's not proven but there is a strong suspicion that it could induce cancer cells, why don't you grow a beard?" Because I had never thought of it. But I didn't dare say that, instead I said: "That's a good idea." For the next thirty years I wore a close trimmed full beard, then in my early fifties grey whiskers started to appear in my beard. Grey! Off came the beard. I would rather have the mole.
Vain? Who me?
