Welp. Both sides of the garage are now clean, right down to mopping the floor. All the shelves have been washed. All the stuff gone through and sorted--keep, trash, Goodwill--and everything put back in logical order. All the holiday stuff together. All the tools together. Everything has even been labeled.

While it was empty, we even set off a bug bomb. Bug bomb? Yeah. Because in the first 15 minutes we found three black widow spiders, one of them crawling on me!

I'm plumb worn out.

Then we took the donate stuff to Goodwill. When we got back, DD decided she needed pictures:LOL: so she now has pix of a clean garage. Let us hope she doesn't plan to frame them and hang them in the living room!

We can walk through the garage without fear of damage to life and limb.

must look fabulous in there... every time I clear out the barn I think, I'm never gonna put excess stuff in there again....:D

I have loads to take to the charity shops, trouble is there's none near me, I have to haul it to another town, and then very often if I take more than one sack, they can't take it.. because they're full up... so it irritates me that I have to take them in loads of trips...

I have been blessed over these past 4 days while my sister (who lives in Phoenix) flew out to visit me over the weekend of my birthday. That's why I haven't been hanging around here so much (stop cheering, dammit!). One of the highlights was going to the best dog park in this area (no, not me, dammit, or her being the dog!) and watching my dog, Pepper, interact with the pups who were also there at the time. It was the first time for her there and while Pepper isn't rambunctious, she enjoyed playing with several pups and my sister and I appreciated chatting with several folks there.

T'was a lovely weekend!

I am awestruck. No way could I do all that, mostly because washing the shelves down means moving the copious amounts of ammo on them. Ammo and water don't mix very well, unfortunately. Well, except for the Navy SEALs, I suppose. ;)

Such a nice time with your grandson! I have good talks with mine, too. ❤️
Aren't we blessed Rose ❣️

@hearlady I'm glad your potassium levels are good too. I never liked those no salt seasonings. Mixing them with a little salt is a good idea. I've been using I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray to add a salty flavor, though there is no sodium in it. I put that stuff on so many things. 😛

Just before my grandson got here yesterday, one of my cousins from N.Y. called and said her sister-in-law Hattie was in the hospital here in town. Hattie, though married into the family, was so faithful and dedicated to my uncle John. When he was in the nursing home, she visited him every day and she had to bus it there. Even when her mother passed, Hattie was up there. Hattie didn't talk but a couple of minutes during phone calls, but she'd call me about once a month to check in. I'll never forget those things.

So I went to visit her today. She had been on dialysis and decided not to take anymore treatment after her condition worsened. She's pretty much out of it and will be transferred to the hospital's hospice unit tomorrow. I took an Uber there but walked home, taking the main road, not the shortcut (which has raggedy sidewalks). Just as well, there were a couple of benches that I didn't expect to encounter. I took advantage of each for a few minutes. I was really hungry when I got home and needed something quick, so I had an Uncrustable with milk after changing into my comfortable clothes. I watched 911 and fell asleep.

It's gonna be a strange day weatherwise. After yesterday's unexpected high temp of 87, today is only supposed to be maybe 70. At least it'll still be sunny.

All that physical activity yesterday spelled a good night's sleep. I'm feeling like I can lick my weight in wildcats. So far ;)

The garden probably wants attention today.

With the wind & cool temps,,,,good day to stay in.

Update on the 'under back porch cat'.
She has been coming to the door that opens onto porch.
Have been feeding her up there.
She lets me pick up & pet her for a few seconds.

She & Mac play a bit on the porch.

I put out a small box with old towel in it,, don't think she uses it to sleep in.
This morning I put an old dog cushion to see if she will sleep in it.

Finally got around to putting the new Shark Vac together... It's on charge now, so I hope it works .... it's incredibly heavy, I was thinking it would be much lighter than my Miele, but I think it's near the same

Got some corrrespondence re the divorce... it looks like I'll have to accept a lower settlement than first thought.. not gonna go into the reason why here, but we've been battling it for a year or more, while he's dodged and ducked like a back street car salesman to avoid paying.. and I've just come to a stalemate.. so I won't be buying any big new swimming pools or castles with this settlement.... ..

However I'll be having another meeting with my lawyer on Monday because it seems that his lawyers are under the impression, that my income is twice what it really is... where they got that idea from given the huge amount of paperwork I've had to submit in the last year..I have no idea. before I can agree to any settlement this has to be sorted... first

Cold ocean fog rolled in overnight and made it too miserable for us to go on our usual morning walk. So, my pups are doing their morning business in the garden.

As always, we are voting early; and I'll drop off our ballots personally at the mailbox of the Registrar of Voters. We are both immigrants and naturalized citizens; my second wife being from Asia, and I am from Europe. America has rewarded us richly with both of us having obtained advanced degrees from California universities. I used to teach at a college, while my wife is still a public school teacher. We are trying to be citizens par excellence. We don't always agree with American politics, but economically there is no better place on earth. "According to the Federal Reserve's 2022 survey, approximately 18% of U.S. households had at least seven figures net worth. That's roughly 23.7 million millionaire households across the country." https://finance.yahoo.com/news/guess-percent-households-over-1-193023481.html

I couldn't help noticing on our morning walk yesterday that Halloween is just around the corner. My grandson already visited a pumpkin patch place that he thoroughly enjoyed: liveoakcanyon.com that has a petting zoo with 400 animals and 70 attractions.

We're in our third & final day with DW's relatives, in Edmonton. It's been a good visit. Had supper together in an Asian-fusion restaurant yesterday. Good food. Everyone was in a good mood.

Today is Canadian Thanksgiving. Another get-together for a meal, this time in the home of our niece and her husband. Tomorrow we hit the road, taking shorter daily drives (so three days till we're back home).

Our friend Claire has been looking after our place while we've been away. She email-attached this pic taken from the porch, a view of the side garden, retired for now util spring. Barely visible in the feed downhill is the hexagonal house of one of our neighbors... down near that row of trees.

Wakened at 6:15 by that darned coyote. Couldn’t get back to sleep. They’ve been really loud this year. It’s more disturbing to hear the pack attacking something in the night.

Looks like it’s going to be another beautiful fall day. It seems like overnight our Mountain Ash turned orange and the berries are bright red. At the very end of the season some birds will come to eat the berries that have turned to an alcohol.

Most places are closed for Thanksgiving so it should be a peaceful day for walking. I hate the busy traffic noise.
