Need help with caring for my Tea Rose

Every spring I put plants into 4 buckets that I can see from my living room window. This year I tried something different, and I planted a Tea Rose. It has done very well, and I've had flowers all summer!

Now that the cold weather is just around the corner, I realize that I have NO IDEA what I'm supposed to do to my rose bush!!

Any suggestions???

Stop giving it Earl Grey?
OMG drinking earl great tea is like sipping kerosene IMO …..if ya tipped it over your roses think it would keep the worst pests at bay …

Roses are one of the toughest plants on this planet ,…… not sure of you get snow ? …I’m a Aussie and mine take bitterly cold arctic winds in winter ….. NO SNOW HERE

and Survive 40 + c 110 F heat northerly winds in summer with no protection what so ever ( they are in my front garden )no fence / no shelter ……in fact my hubs just went out and picked a bunch of the yellow roses for me

( It’s spring here )

I'm pretty far north, and here people will do things like spread a little straw mulch down and add a cover. Often some pruning will be required:

Others are more pragmatic (and cheaper) and they'll cut down those 30 gallon paper leaf bags and invert those over their roses:

Both may need some stones to weight them down.

Wow, great ideas!!! My main questions come from the fact that it is in a bucket.

I could move the bucket into the barn, but there is no light, and I'm not sure if that would kill it. However, your cones or bags idea would also be a "no light" solution. So this is ok......?

The roots of your tea rose will freeze and the rose will die if you live in a cold area. From what I understand you can put the rose into a shed and it might survive that way. I have several tea roses planted in a raised garden and am curious to see if they will survive.

All the tea roses that I have planted in the ground in SLC, Utah; have always survived the winters. However in the mobile home park I live in now, all my roses, regular and tea, are planted under a huge pine tree. I don’t know if any of them will survive.

We will see next year.

Your roses are gorgeous!!!!!

You had a good point: I didn't include any info about my winters. I'm in zone 6, of the Plant Hardiness chart.

I wish you good luck!!!! 🌹

I had tons of roses on my rose bush this year but am down to my last one. It`s a beauty though-and smells heavenly.

As you can see from the actual bush though,I do nothing with it. I just don`t know how/what to do and am not really interested in learning lol.
