So, this past Friday, the 11th I had a routine Dr appt. As it happened I was also feeling symptoms of a UTI. So, I mentioned it to the Doctor and after the urine test she gave me a prescription for Bactrim (Sulfa) as It worked before. Well, by yesterday (Sunday) I was concerned that I was not starting to feel better yet. If anything, it felt like I was going more.
My plan was to call today and mention that. 9AM this morning I get a call from her office. "We looked over your results, and we feel that Bactrim will not help your infection. We have called in a prescription for Cipro". But, I have to give them credit for realizing that and changing the med

You have all my sympathy. My wife suffers from these too and will be having another procedure soon to surgically prevent the nerve that carries the pain from doing so. I hope the Cipro is enough for you. It is never preferable to go under the knife.

Back during lockdown, I went through a time where I was getting a new UTI every few weeks. Seems one would end, and a couple weeks later a new one. Last time they said they would give me Cipro. Worked like a charm, no new infections

I've dealt with this a fair bit of my adult life. Interestingly, last week I went to the doc, couldn't see my regular one so I saw another one. Young whippersnapper, proceded to tell me that generally only women get UTIs. I smiled at him and he realized how he sounded... Said I was okay, nothing wrong.

So a few days later I got a message from Dr's office, upon further review they'd sent in a Scrip for me.

He - I assume it was he - was wrong. I've certainly had them but not as often or as severe as my wife.

I suffered with a bad UTI infection early on this year, even blood showed up in the urine. I got straight to the doctor's office as the pain was unbearable. He told me to get URAL (Lemon flavour effervescent powder), and to dissolve in a glass of water, 1-2 sachets every couple of hours. The pain had subsided almost immediately and within 4 hours everything was back to normal.

My former wife kept getting those until I told her to stop drying herself with used bath towels because they breed bacteria. Told her to use paper towels instead and she never suffered from UTI again. I had also told my mother to avoid drying her face with previously used bath towels. She ignored me and contracted conjunctivitis. That's an infection of the tear duct. Shifted to paper towels. Also, the way that a woman uses toilet paper might be the cause.

Oh goodness, I had a few when I was in my thirties. Absolutely, painful. Luckily, was able to get a prescription at those times immediately. Hope all goes well for you now with less infections.
Several years ago, I was hospitalized for an entire week because of Urinary Tract infection complications. The treatment at the hospital by the staff was worse than the illness.

@Radrook interesting. Did not think of some of this stuff. I do use a fresh bath towel every time I bathe. I use a bidet now in the bathroom, and admittedly sometimes forget to do the front (trying to be delicate here) ado both front and back.

Well, it's worth trying to see if eliminating the towels, and using the toilet paper differently works. Not your fault. If little girls were taught the right way either by parents or teachers at school, then they would not suffer such painful consequences. My former wife was getting a UTI every month from those towels. An additional safety measure would be to rinse the anal and ******l area with body wash after doing number 2 just to make sure. The groin area. Also, drink a lot of water to keep the urine from stagnating in the bladder and providing a breeding ground.

BTW I was once told by a certain urologist, that if I kept going to doctors with a certain complaint, sooner or later I would find one who would be exceptionally eager to recommend surgery.

In my early 30s', I had two surgical procedures to prevent UTI. That was within 3-4 years periods.' After the first procedure. however I got UTI again, not once but twice or more. Then, I seeked for another Urologist to get it done. After that, I never had UTI. I'm close to 80s' tho. Both of Urologists told me that 'tube/urethra' is very narrow which caused to get UTI easily, then both Urologists widened 'tube/urethra.' It was very painful procedure, in my recollection even I was in an excellent health.

Recently, I felt some irritation in my vulva/sensitive area and not able to sleep comfortably.
Now, I use 'FemiClear/infection protection' purchased from Amazon. This cream works 'wonder' for me not feel any 'irritation.' I used a bit, a bit to apply in the first time due to 'very sensitive area' for the test run. After confidence, I use it whenever I feel irritation around Vulva.

I wonder if this would help with UTIs as it does with yeast infections: when possible, wear nothing between your "downstairs apartment" and the air but cotton.
It's also a good idea to have a Diabetes check-up as well. That's when I found out I had Type 2 Diabetes 15 years ago. As soon as I cut out all types of sugar and went on a strict diet, the UTI's settled down.

I agree.....hubby was diabetic. I did go to the doctor last week for a routine exam. I forget my glucose number at the moment, but she did tell me my numbers were fine.
To a point, I still follow the diet my hubby did.
