Who remembers these things back in the day ?...come and add your own memories..

Saw an ad last night reminding me that in the early days of internet, you couldn't be on phone and internet at same time. One would cancel the other. I remember this, I didn't have internet in nineties, but a friend had AOL and she couldn't use the phone separately when she was on it. The chat rooms, they were wild, I remember reams of speakers, screen ran fast with their comments, hard to keep up.

yes we had AOL back in the late 90's..it 's very strange now to think all we could have was America ONline :D I have kept quite a few of the AOL disks that used to come fast and furious because one day they'll be valuable...

I remember. no buses. too close for buses but too far in the snow:)
I grew up in a small town in the Colorado mountains. Back in the 1950's we had snowstorms that frequently left three to four feet of snow on the ground. As kids we loved it! Our schools were never closed. I lived in town and most all the people would keep their walks cleared for us and the snowplows worked all night keep the primary roads open. We all loved it, but our parents, not so much...

School buses for the kids that lived on ranches in the valley would pick the kids up at the highway, parents got them their as best they could. Sometime, those kids would not make it in, but that was unusual! Our ranchers were a hearty breed for sure, they all raised beef cattle and with the winters we had they had to work hard to get their stock through the winters. But they did and they actually still do...

Buying a pair of nylon stockings when I was about age 17...that would be 1950 or so
They were too expensive to buy normally so we wore rayon or silk if we were lucky.
What a treat!!

During the war years women tanned their legs with god only knows what and
drew the seam line down the back of their legs.

There was an app you could download called Pagoo, and it allowed you to have phone calls come in through the computer while online! $5.00 a month. Worked great.

Very few women wear nylons anymore. If I were dressed up for a fancy event, I would, but not in warm weather.

Maybe I should be embarrassed to admit this but I still use AOL for my email. lol

For many years I used my work email for both professional and personal correspondence, then when I retired I simply went back to the old AOL account I was using in the nineties. It does everything I need and it's free so why not?

Did you ever clear your "Etch-e-Sketch" and see how it works?

I remember my brother doing that. We as kids didn't get many toys, the ones we did get were the type that lasted a week ... however my brother younger than me was singled out for better toys, and he got a Bike, a garage, Bagatelle, .. and he had an etch-a-sketch.. and I remember him taking his apart after it stopped working...

Always a good excuse to get up and away from your desk at school for a few moments. Go sharpen your pencil and gaze out of the window because it was always on the sill. At my school at least.

I had tried to switch back to AOL in the 2000s because they said they were free now and they charged me 26.95 a month like in the 90's when they were the only email around so I dropped them quick. :ROFLMAO:
