A new experience. Were they being unprofessional?

I had a new experience today with an online purchase and I thought I would share what happened and ask you was the seller behaving in an unprofessional way? I ordered something at Ebay last week. It arrived a couple of days ago. Today I received an email from the seller asking me if I received my order okay, did I like it and if I liked it would I give them positive feedback on the transaction?

In closing they expressed their choice for the presidency in America in 2024 as if I shared their enthusiasm. Without being political, what I ordered from them had NOTHING to do with politics. I feel they were being unprofessional at best and almost intrusive at worst.

What do you think about this new experience? I thought I had seen it all.

No politics please, just a comment on their behavior. Thank you.
 

I would say it's unprofessional, but may be in the minority. I see personal agenda campaigns often in places of business, support this or that, he or she, and I always find it unprofessional.

OMG I have never experienced that... good grief. Extremely unprofessional.. but then people who sell from their own homes often don't know how to be professional

U-n-p-r-o-f-e-s-s-i-o-n-a-l. I would give them an appropriate feedback on the transaction, but I would mention the political comment being inappropriate.

Last time I was at Tractor Supply(a store that I very much like) one of their employees went off on an off-the-rails political rant. I did not react(not like me huh?), I just turned and left. That was THE LAST time I will ever set foot in a Tractor Supply.

Tractor Supply recently took over a local chain and I was in the store and bought some socks on clearance. The guy checking me out went on this cash is king and they can't track you, etc, etc. I didn't respond, but thought to myself it's socks, I don't care if anyone knows I bought socks. Tractor Supply won't be carrying this brand and I'm already missing the old store.
 
My not so humble opinion is businesses should stick to making money. I don't care if they donate a sock for everyone I buy. Is that a heartfelt donation, or just a sales ploy. And I don't care what charities corporations donate to. And when I check out, I don't need to donate to their favorite charity. My point is, businesses pushing pet charities and agendas, leads to some adding political messages. I don't like corporations, who use charities and agendas to appear warm and caring, when their donations are wholly tax deductible. Sooner or later, instead of merely selling a product, somebody's agenda was political.

Yes, I agree with everything you're saying.
 
Ebay is sort of a pirate's bay. Lots of it is just very small-time individuals though of course businesses moved there long ago too. But you never know when you are buying merch that "fell off a truck" there.

So don't be shocked by anything you might see at a flea market, or a yard sale, a random knock at your door, or some guy in an alley selling watches from a trench coat.

Yeah. I can't believe some of the shameless ads playing this week. I've seen a series of them featuring different people who look to have been recruited at a Birkenstocks and Army Boots factory warehouse mouthing all sorts of outrageous character assassination claims about the distant past nobody can fact check since they are innuendo from start to finish.

It's incredible that things have fallen so far when there are critical issues to be addressed.
 
First, I would give this seller a VERY negative review. Then, I would submit a complaint to eBay, providing every detail of being solicited for a good review and being told how to vote, and suggest that this seller be banned.
 
Last time I went to the dentist, he started on a rant about how much he hates a certain political party. It was just his assistant and me in the room with him. I rolled my eyes and sighed out an "oh boy". The assistant scolded him.

I got political stuff in my electric bill this time. Get out and vote as if your life depends upon it, was implied. Well if the electric company says vote then I better vote. Right? :rolleyes:

I'll be standing in line waiting for the cashier and the customer ahead to get done with their political commentary while my ice cream melts. I do the oh boy sigh again. Gets things moving at least.
 
yes, unprofessional. I'm one who does those surveys after purchases... almost every time... my incentive is that I won a $100 gift card to Acme Markets. I always give sales people excellent ratings... they're frequently low paid positions. and if someone is bad, they hear it from me.

there's a well know seller of herbs/spices that makes it crystal clear where they stand politically. I don't like it but will still buy their products when it's a great deal.

I'm not out to hurt anyone's business because of their comment. This constant obsession with politics in America annoys me though and I do think the woman was unprofessional but I did receive my stuff just fine so I'm not going to give her grief.
