What have you bought recently?

BLUETTI Portable Power Station AC200L with 350W Solar Panel Included, 2048Wh LiFePO4 Battery Backup w/ 4 2400W AC Outlets (3600W Power Lifting), Solar Generator for Camping, Home Use, Emergency.

Portable Power Station.jpg

I've been postponing such a thing for a long, long time reading review after review.

I have a Honda Eu2200i gasoline-powered generator, but it has its limitations such as sound (though quiet for its class) but mostly the need to run it outdoors away from the house to avoid exhaust fumes.

This big battery pack works quietly, indoors, etc. and capacity pairs well with the Honda. It can be recharged from AC power, from the solar panel I bought with it, or in a pinch even from the Honda gas generator of course. And I could even use both if need be, to power more stuff.

I just don't have outages often enough for a whole-house solution. And both the Honda and this Bluetti are portable and can be taken in the car for camping and such.

The main drawback is that they are heavy (62 lbs). So I also bought a second large-wheel folding indoor-outdoor luggage hand truck and rubber bungee cords. I get a lot of misc. use out of my existing one so I can mostly-dedicate the new one to the Bluetti.

So why jump on this now?

Well Winter is coming... but this power station and solar panel were both on sale at half price.

It doesn't appear to be nearing replacement by the manufacturer. I suspect they are just overstocked as the market becomes saturated. You don't replace these every day, and battery technology advancement has slowed way down.

I bought a battery powered weed whacker for around the house. I can’t manage the big gas driven one anymore.

I also bought an air fryer at my brother’s suggestion —- I’m still using the microwave 😳😳
you should try your AF... it's a great asset to the kitchen. It uses a third less time than the oven, doesn't dry food out like the oven.. you don't have to double cooking times for more than one item like you do with the microwave which is radiation after all... but the AF is not... You can even cook omelettes, sausages, bacon, pies.. steak..... most things that you can cook on the stove top in the AF, and you can walk away from it while it's doing it ...give it a try, look up some easy recipes online... I'd be lost without mine now

Does it smoke? Does it have that strong electric smell?

You are right. Everyone says the same as you🤠

Winter is approaching, days are getting shorter so the outside work is slowing down; hopefully I will be more inclined experiment with it🤠

the only thing that I know you can't cook in it is soup..... I have just come home and I put a quiche ( egg & bacon flan) into the AF while I was putting the groceries away. As soon as I finished, the quiche was ready ( 12 minutes)... and I'm eating it now sitting here at my desk...(y)

I was down to the very last dregs of my facial moisturizer so I took advantage of discount Thursday, a $10 gift card, and package promotions they have this time of year. Some of the little add ons are good for travel. If I won‘t use them, I put them in my donation box.

Another bus pass card.

Quite simple, I wipe mine out and hand wash. @hollydolly may have more input. My dishwasher is off balance right now, so I have not ever put it in the dishwasher. I probably wouldn't anyway because I have always done pots and pans by hand.
It's very simple to wash, the basket just comes straight out at a press of a button... very easy to clean. I use AF paper liners which are really cheap so it keeps it clean for longer

Today I bought £65 of groceries which included some expensive desserts and sweet things for Christmas...

I also donated to the Poppy remembrance guy in the supermarket...

Also I renewed my Rail travel card for another year... and My Costco Business account

@Jules, I also love mine, I cook more in it than anywhere else when I can. I cook meats, even steak filets in it. I cook veggies like asparagus, brussel sprouts, and potatoes.

I can throw a small filet and some asparagus in and it is ready at the same time. Some veggies may require more time so I set the timer and then go put the meat in to cook the amount of time it needs. They also cook a really good hamburger. The best chicken wings or drumsticks. Holly has more experience with it than me, but it is an appliance I could not live without as I have learned to use it.

The instant pot I was gifted a few years ago has an air fryer lid, basket, tongs and the rest of what's needed. All those accessories remain stashed in my garage.

I resisted using an instant pot for years, but now see the value of it. Looks like it's time read up on how to use the IP as an AF and give it a whirl.

DIL uses IP and loves it, but of course they are young, working a lot of hours and raising a elementary age child. For me, I have the time to take full advantage of the crockpot for roasts, beans, soups and stews. I still use that AF everyday in some form or function.

There are certain things that have been invented that you can't ignore the greatness of, let's talk elastic, velcro, stretchy jeans, heating pads, electric blankets, those are just a few of my favorites.

..Birth control... remote controls... and the Airfryer...:D

had trouble with fertility, lost remote controls all the time, and the Airfryer, glad I have success with the AF, have one child, like you, if the remote is missing, I usually find it outside where big dog carries it off, along with just one of my outside shoes by the backdoor......
No I don't even have to have a physical remote control unit.. because Alexa remotely turns on so many things for me... including the lights and the heating...:D

I am on my second 'little stove' one and have a backup in the attic. It is perfect for baking for two including bread and in summer it moves to the patio. No remote but warm option which is great for plates.

yes this is my second one too. My first was a little one person Tower machine.. cheap in case I didn't really like it... then after a year I upgraded to a slightly bigger one..enough for me on my own... but not too big.. this one..

This may seem like a bit of a gimmick but it actually works really well, and costs very little. Its a multiple roll-up spectacle case..

This one holds 6 pairs, and I have at least 6 pairs of specs, and they are all in seperate glases cases.. so this will keep them all in one place..comes in various colours.. I couldn't decide between the classy tan..or the cute duck egg blue.. as you can see I chose the latter . These specs holders come in various sizes..from 2 pair size to 8 or 10...
