Is she a picky package pirate, or a nice neighbor?

I have had my packages delivered to the wrong people and they bring them to me. My neighbor who was very unfriedly, yelled at me to get my package and I went over and thanked him and after that he became friendly smiling and waving at me. If I don't get a package, I just notify the company and they either credit my account or send a new item.

Hopefully your neighbor will not get any more of your packages and you won't have to bother with her again.

Frank, in my opinion it's not a big deal.

Imagine you had ordered some sex toys that came with a flyer "How to manage erectile dysfunction" or in case you were single some frilly bras and panties. If your neighbor had opened such a package it would be much worse :ROFLMAO:

Even if you hadn't ordered them but Amazon had made a mistake by sending them to your address, embarrassment would be inevitable.

I haven't got other people's packages, but I've gotten others' mail. I got a bill from the electric company saying I owed $450. I'm on the phone yelling and screaming that I don't own a cent. When I gave them my customer number......well, it wasn't me. I didn't notice that the name and address wasn't mine. I had to bring the opened mail back to the post office.
So, yeah, your neighbor might have gotten your cat scratcher by accident, but I'd watch the thieving no good #&%?@@ like a hawk.

I don't know about this one... there's a house a few doors down where they order as much online as I do. I get their packages, they get mine... usually FedEx is the culprit. It's like the figure if it's this street, it's for one of us, so they just choose one of the porches.. Anyhow, I had to retrieve a package a few months ago... the delivery photo showed their porch. The guy had just taken it inside and was about to open it because they get a lot of packages, too... so yeah, it could happen. I *almost* opened one of theirs about a year ago because I'd ordered from Target, too.

We've had other people's packages and mail and of course we've always taken it to the rightful owner -- and always been treated with anger and suspicion. "What are you doing with my mail?"

I once watched a phone fly off the top of a car going by my house. I went out to the yard and picked it up and waited for it to ring so I would know who to return it to. When that happened the owner was so angry at me for having her phone that I was afraid to tell her where I lived so that she could come and get it, so I asked her her address, put it into her mail box, and ran home.

People are funny.

I might give her the benefit of the doubt this one time. Any other reason to suspect she took it? I think if she did she would have tossed it, not brought it to you. 🤔
I agree. I've been getting a steady stream of packages from Amazon for a couple of years now. Just had one on my front step this morning, made the order last night.

I cut them open without much thought, to see which item was delivered. If the item looked foreign to me, something I did not order, I would then examine the package better and take note of the delivery address.

Kudos to her or anyone else to makes sure the intended recipient gets their item. Just last week I had a piece of mail in my box for my next door neighbor, didn't open it because lately I'm flipping through the mail before I even get back into my house. Gave it to him right away.

Wow, can't believe that! I've always been very thankful if someone delivered my mail or package, although normally not opened.

I once found a smartphone dropped in a large off leash dog park. Took it to my car to try and figure out how to contact the owner, that was before I ever used a smartphone. It rang and I was able to answer it, they said they were close enough and if I could wait they would walk to my car. The lady came and was very grateful I found it.

I'd really be annoyed if people became angry with me for returning their misplaced things, may give a few choice words to that person. Thankfully I never had such negative encounters.

I would be more concerned with the gossipy neighbor.

It’s been my experience when people gossip about others they will also gossip about me, pump me for information, etc…

I’ve opened mail intended for others and owned up to it when I took it to the intended recipient.

Who knows what people said or thought about me. 🤷‍♀️

It probably would have been better if she just threw it away and got on with her life.
Ben (the neighbor) wouldn't have any reason to make that up, and it was more a caution than gossip.

Again, I'm not really jumping to any conclusion, because she did bring the thing back and these things do happen. But I'm skeptical. If I actually catch her poking around my yard or someone else's when she has no reason to be doing that, then I'll go and talk to her.

Meanwhile, I'll be as neighborly as always...just wary.

Some gal came to my door this morning with an Amazon package addressed to me. She said it was delivered to her by mistake. It had been opened. She said she didn't notice it was delivered to her by mistake until after she opened it.

What BS.

She does live on my street. I've seen her before. I've waved to her a couple times, and she waved back. Same with Michelle.

Anyway, what was in the package was a cat-scratcher thing...one of those things cats can hone their claws on. A cheapo cardboard one.

I think she brought it to me because she didn't want it. True, she could have just tossed it in the trash, so it's cool she gave it back, but I'm sure she took it from my porch. The coincidence of her expecting an Amazon delivery the same time as me is too slim, imo.

Plus, her home address doesn't resemble ours. Not one digit is the same. And all our house numbers are painted on the cement above the gutter...large black numbers on a white background. I just don't think an Amazon driver would confuse the two addresses, even if they just took a quick glance.
Mmm, ya - maybe as people these days, especially during the holidays are sketchy.

There was/is a big problem with their Map App! Mine finally got straightened out after 3 issues.
I had no idea about that. Still, all the house numbers on the streets in this particular neighborhood are painted in front of every house. Big black numbers on a white background.

There's also this:: a LOT of the delivery drivers here do not speak or read English as a first language. In Calif, new immigrants are given priority when they apply for delivery and courier jobs, and it's great for them because the pay is good and they get benefits, and they can get a stipend if they go to school or train for something else while doing it, if they want. But it could be why there are more miss-delivered packages and food orders and stuff than there used to be.

Porch Pirate and Considerate Neighbor seem to be at odds with each other here. I would give her the benefit of the doubt, and then maybe secretly set up one of these inexpensive cameras I used to catch my own pirates of the forest in action, night and day!

I prefer something like that over a ring camera. No subscription, no 3rd-party, no cloud...just buy the thing and stick it on the window or whatever.

I don't know @Murrmurr but I'm the suspicious sort. If I get a package, I'm not expecting, you sure as heck know I'm going to inspect the label. I have ordered and forgot so there is that.

But a couple of years ago I got two packages wrongly delivered at the apartment. I got messages with pictures, both were not my front door. One was from Amazon and the mat had a cat on it. I have no mat. But those nice cat people brought it to my door and left it.

The other large Chewy box also was not my door. There was another mat. I called Chewy and then had the thought to look for my box. I circled my building, nothing. Went to the next building, upstairs I noted a box, went up and yes, it was my Chewy box. The people didn't appear to be home and I felt like a thief taking my own box. Called Chewy back, they had already generated a label and were sending me a replacement even though I told them I found my order. Told me to keep both.

But I'm not trusting this neighbor of yours.

I quit driving so I order groceries a couple times a month, usually 20 to 30 items per order. I order from Walmart, mainly because they send a whole series of texts from the time of purchase to the time of delivery....so many texts, it's annoying. But it's the very reason I order from them instead of the supermarket right down the street.

I can be at the door at the time of delivery, because I always get a text telling me my delivery person is there now. That's awesome.
