Remember my story of the broken elevator in building?

Well, finally the Otis elevator company has the appropriate parts to fix the elevator (lift) that has been out of service since spring. Guess repairs will start next week. Was talking with apartment manager and I guess the parts, and labor will set the owners back about $10,000, Wow. Not sure how long it will take, but guess they will fix the one that skips floors once repairs are done

You've had your very own Big Bang elevator. Since it's taken well over 6 months to get parts, it doesn't sound like the Otis Company has Amazon Prime. Even if they had to manufacture a part, that's a long time to wait. Any reason for the delay????
The story is since the elevators are 40 years old, they did not make the parts any more. So, they had to have the parts made. I call BS, but what do I know. BUT, there have been representatives from the company that owns the building here several times over the past few weeks. PLUS, there is a HUD inspection due next month. So, seems it is a hurry up and fix everything situation.

Our condo building is 47 years old and our elevator has been broken for 5 and a half months. I’m on the board and it’s heartbreaking. We have seniors and disabled people that can’t do the steps

. Our entire electrical panel has to be built from scratch and we still lack one part from Mexico and have been told it could be another 2-3 months. We have hired the electrician and elevator company to make a temporary fix that will take us through the problem but it may still malfunction and trap people.

It’ll be another 2 weeks to see if that even works. At this point we would pay much more than the 10k we have obligated to get this fixed.

Excellent news, I hope it doesn't drag on.

OMG, Workers were here Tuesday to start work on the broken elevator. YAY. But TODAY the working elevator has a "temporarily out of service" sign on it to "fix door". Just happened in the last couple hours..as I went down this morning to do laundry. Glad I got back up. Me and my walker are NOT doing 4 flights of stairs any time soon

:eek::oops:(n):poop::poop:

@Marie5656 ,

Were they able to restore service before quitting time?
They are still here. I guess they are staying until they get it going. I guess apartment manager is to light some fires to get the other one done...they have the parts, and have started work on original broke elevator.
I guess some people are stuck on the first floor. The ones who cannot walk...in wheelchairs and walkers . I just came back to my apartment from checking on progress. So they ARE still working

I’m glad that you are comfortable in your apartment and not one of those on the first floor.

I hope that they stick with it and get things going.

Stay safe! 🤗
