Uh-oh, that means going to a store, waiting in line to pay-oh the humanity. That's it, the world is indeed coming to end.

The good news your delivered package won't be intercepted by a thief. Or fall prey to porch pirates.

the fact is , that Amazon has serious competition from other online retailers.. and if people can't get what they want when they want it due to a strike..they'll go elsewhere, and when they leave they'll stay left.. because almost everywhere else online is cheaper.. and people will discover this..

The other thing is that..it's not a matter of 'going to a store''.. not now.. because certainly in the Uk, the big box stores now, do not carry the variety of items they once did.

For example one of the biggest Hardware stores here.. a big chain of Box stores .. B&Q... where we buy paint, and all sorts of D-I-Y stuff.. nails, tools..flooring, even kitchens... I go into it last summer, to buy a broom... couldn't find one, so i asked at customer service where I would find it.. and the 12 year old brat said to me in the most patronising manner she could muster... '' We don't stock that any more, you have to go online to our website and buy it from there, just like amazon, do you know Amazon?''.. 😖

..and that's the rub... most stores now are not selling things instore, not keeping things in stock .. instead they're selling the majority from their websites.....

Long gone are the days when we coud guarantee going out for a days' shopping, and know we could come back with everything we went for... now it's almost all online

Hollydolly, that’s too bad that you don’t have a full range of items in your stores. While we have less choices in some stores I can find whatever I need because we have a fairly large number of stores to choose from.

I always shop around online for prices and have found Amazon to be cheaper for many items. If I can find something cheaper at a store I’m definitely willing to drive there to buy it. I had no idea there was going to be a strike. Interesting that it didn’t make the news.

I cancelled my order; it was made by mistake Tuesday morning.
I found my Indoor Flower plant grow lights on the high shelf of the garage.

Our indoor Lumber Co's are filling the isles with large boxes full of stuff to entice impulse buying. You have to check out the Pro area to fit a cart with lumber and stuff up to the self checkout.

Its obviously apparent that the stores no mater how large need to expand every 4 years or so to fit all the crap into them.

Since the delivery drivers started throwing parcels over the fence instead of knocking on the door, I have done my best to avoid buying on-line. The only exception is Argos, who inform you precisely when your delivery is due.
There are still plenty of small shops who stock just about everything. If they don't have it, you can order it and they will get it for you.

there are definitely not ''plenty of small shops'' around here... definitely not, almost every shop that had been in our little market town for hundreds of years have folded and become coffee shops or hair salons.... due in the main to High rents, and online shopping...

Thanks for posting this. I have been avoiding the news and hadn't known about it. I've got one order that has not shipped yet, so it probably won't.

Derr, just go to the Costco. I'm sure you'll get through that gross of canned baked beans someday.

errrm..if you did your homework... the uk doesn't have easy access to Costco as the US customers do

Most people have to travel for several hours to get to one.. ( not me ).. but Costco is far more expensive for many things than Amazon or other online retailers.. anyway

Well, I wouldn't go to one if you paid me. If you think Walmart people are weird try Costco.

Yes I have found this to be true. My groceries are cheaper at Winco than Costco. I don’t know why people like Costco so much.

The last of 2 Amazon buys from the last couple weeks is scheduled to arrive this afternoon. A replacement TV remote for my modest 32 inch 1080P HD TV since some buttons on the old one like the Mute and volume control have become open. Also a package of 30 N-95 masks I'd bought just 4 of much more expensively in the past. As soon as another pandemic hits the news, one can be certain those items will be like gold otherwise difficult to obtain. Some Carnation powdered milk in a multi pound canister as a Prepper protein food item. Now glad I didn't wait.

Amazon deliveries turned up here today, on time, as expected.

Egad, masks? After all of the admissions that they do nothing? I didn't think that anyone but that cornered rat Mr. Fauci are even making such wild claims any more:

Fauci COVID mask admission sparks furious backlash

Anthony Fauci has sparked a backlash from politicians and commentators after saying that wearing face masks protects individuals from spreading coronavirus, but that there was inconclusive evidence to suggest it prevented a pandemic spiraling at a whole population level.
...
However, he was probed on one particular study, first published by the Cochrane Library in 2020 and updated this year, which found that wearing even medical-grade face masks "makes little or no difference" to infection rates. Smerconish cited an interview with The New York Times in which the study's lead author, Tom Jefferson, an epidemiologist at the University of Oxford, said: "There is just no evidence that they make any difference."

That was over a year ago and now it looks even sillier. Time to let that false religion go, and for once follow the science and not the agenda.

Winco is only in 5 western states. Each letter stands for one of the states.
Not that it really matters, but that's not what Winco stands for. The name was changed from Waremart back in 1999 to Winco which stands for winning company. ;)
btw, they are also in Montana, Washington, Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma, and Texas.
