No Family Christmas Party This Year

I saw a relative today and asked if she had heard anything about the family party. She said there isn't going to be one. So many older people not feeling well and the host in whose home it is usually in is busy with grandkids.
that's a shame Deb, I feel that's the only time you get together with your family

That's some bad news. I look forward to our Christmas Eve get together with the family, kids and grandkids before we head off to church service. But, then again, I wonder each year when will it end? We had it at our house for almost 20 years and then my son wanted to host it, so he had it for a number of years and now my daughter is hosting it. I think she has almost had enough of it also.

We can’t expect to get more out of life than we are willing to put into it.
Well put and very wise.
I chose to only have one child and my brothers had none. Now, in old age, I would love to have nieces and nephews, grandchildren and many sons and daughters all gathered for a big Norman Rockwell Christmas, but I didn't earn that did I?

The three of us had a traditional Thanksgiving feast at home but I expect we'll be going out for Chinese on Christmas Day like we did last year.

After years of us hosting the holidays, the daughters have now assumed that responsibility. We had a large Thanksgiving gathering at the oldest daughters house....32 people showed up. We will have Christmas at the youngest daughters house on the weekend before Christmas....that allows the kids to get together with the In-Laws on the 25th. We rotate every other year. If the weather permits, my wife and I may go to the casino.

My house is too small. Besides with all the problems people are having, I doubt anyone is in the mood or would attend. Even last year it seemed no one was very happy. I felt like the mood was "Let's hurry and get this over with."
I have had 10 people for dinner in my small condo and 40 people in a house that was 1750 sq ft with half of the space upstairs which wasn’t used for the party. You don’t need a big space to get together and have fun.

Our home is open to you if you want to fly over the pond. You could fly nonstop into Washington. The airport is actually in Virginia and then it is a 2-hour drive to our home.
you're an absolute gentleman, and a good friend, and I do appreciate your offer.... and similar offers you've made to me in the past..

One day..if god is willing..I'll be able to take you up on your offer.. might even be as early as next year.. you never know.. but in the meantime, I thank you so much for your kindness, ... 🧡

I shall be spending Christmas alone once again, but I actually prefer it. I've had the whole family thing....being expected to provide perfection in everything...putting up with the in-laws.....the noise, arguing over tv programmes...etc.
I have just been to the garden centre and bought a real tree to add to the two artificial ones I have. I have pets so have to be careful not to introduce anything toxic. The real tree will be in my front window, while the artificial ones will be in the sitting room. I don't eat meat so will have a substitute. Thank God I don't have to face dealing with a raw turkey and wondering what sort of life it lived.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

It's an open offer with ticket included. You would enjoy the trip more over here, if you wanted to come in the summer, but it's good to be with friends over the holidays too. We are pretty active and spend a lot of time outdoors and even though we don't ski anymore, we still go to some of the slopes and hang out in the chalets while having some nosh and a few drinks. The stories the skiers tell are always interesting.

Hershey Park is open over the holidays with thousands of lights and some of the rides are open. Hot Hershey cocoa is always available and if it snows prior to Christmas, it makes the village look so much more realistic.

Gettysburg Battlefield in the winter is a very solemn place and if it should snow, it makes for a beautiful scene, especially if there is a full moon out and it glistens off the snow over the Battlefield.

Just got a text from my ex, we'll have it at her place this year. Some discussion of gift possibilities and things to avoid for the grandson (he'll be 3 come April).

No extended in-laws this time. For some odd reason the daughter in law wants to bring her 'home-made Scandahoovian pizza rolls" whatever that might turn out to be. My mind conjures Swedish meatballs deep-fried in dough. Odd though, she's more hillbilly than squarehead.

They had parties during the Victorian Era called Crushes, because they were purposely over crowded. It can be lots of fun squeezing together. Cozy!

Deep fried meatballs sound good to me. I'm a full blooded West Virginia hillbilly and I know we like to remind people that most of us are of Scottish descent to remind them that we once were civilized.

You make it sound like a warm and loving family event that will make the Christmas season merry and bright. 😉🤭😂
