I got stuck last winter. I pulled into a small car park when we had snow and ice on the road.. not realising that it sloped downwards a little bit... and when I went to reverse back out my wheels just spun and spun.

There was a Dump truck nearby with a load of dry cardboard at the side, like someone had just left it there a few minutes ago..so I stuffed it under my wheels and tried again...nope.. still didn't work...

at this point a guy saw me struggling and he came over, and helped me put more cardboard under the wheels.. and then when I put it into reverse he pushed the car backwards from the front to get me up on the flat...

Knight in shining armour that day.....lesson learned.. never drive forward into a downward sloped space when there's snow and ice...

Also keep your wheels straight, holly.

In the winter, I don't drive as much as in summer. And here, in the "higher elevations of the Poconos", where it always @$&!5 colder than another other place in Pennsylvania, my battery always dies. If you don't use your car everyday, you should let it idle for about 10-15/day to keep the battery from certain death. I got a key fob that starts and stops the car, so I don't have to leave the house.
(BTW, I didn't take my own advice and last Sunday, I had to get out the battery charger.
Bad bad fuzzybuddy! )
