Car is all done.. watered, didn't need oil.. needed a little bit of coolant.. and the windscreen wash was amost empty.. so it's all done ready for the trip tomorrow..
Have a lovely day out with your daughter, @hollydolly !

Plans for today for me: clean stove top after breakfast (made chai earlier— turned my back for like 5 seconds, milky tea boiling over—oy). Then I am *determined* to tackle the shelving stand in my bathroom and give it a thorough cleaning. A tedious process but needs to be done

Shopping, visit Ed, order Christmas gifts for a couple people, make 2 more batches granola, and reserve a hotel room for the weekend after Christmas near my daughter in N Georgia.

At 2pm, I’m going to a coffee klatch with several friends at one of their homes.

Y’all have a lovely day!

Drive like everybody on the road is out to get you.
I intend to Gigi...because tomorrow is to all intents and purposes Christmas Eve .the whole world is going to be on the road.. The kids have just this minute broken up from school at 1pm today until january... they with their parents will be out shopping.. cars full of fractuous children.. distrating the driver or making angry drivers ...

...... cars with people who are celebrating holidays from work and have been in the pub before driving home and are over the limit..... and the rest of the world driving from London to the North for the holidays.. and equally coming back again , people from the north heading down here to celebrate in the Capital..and I'll be driving back in the dark .. so if I had, had the choice I would have chosen not drive tomorrow..

We were given something similar to that the other day, when we were at Aldi’s. When we went to get our cart, there was a gentleman standing there, and it looked like he put in the required quarter, and then rolled the cart out for us. We were puzzled, but thanked him and went on in and got busy with our shopping.
Later, the same man came up and asked me if we shopped at Aldi’s very much and I said that we did. He handed us a little metal gizmo that looked very similar to the tokens in your picture.

He said he was from Germany, and they used those over there for the shopping carts instead of the quarters, so now we have one of those to use.
The whole thing is strange because it really does not cost anything to get the carts because you get the quarter back when you return the cart, and often people just exchange with another person who is going in to shop.

yes you do get your money back... but very often espeically here where it costs a lot more a whole Pound coin... people just don't have a pound coin on them.. particularly now that most people use cards instead of cash ..so if you always have the token on your keyring, you're always able to use a trolley...

Incidentally you do know that Aldi are a german company don't you ? It might be a rep of Aldi's asking you questions

Gosh Hawkie, I hope you feel better later on! 👀 🌹

This afternoon went to our county's largest indoor mall that was full of people especially young people. One of the richest malls in the nation given so many ultra rich tech people and also most ethnically diverse. Did a full people watching tour. A See's candy shop gal gave be a free chocolate raspberry cream sample. Enjoyed a $6 pepperoni pizza slice then for dessert bought a $2.59 Popeye's cinnamon apple pie.

When I returned to my old Forester that was parked in an ignored place on a quiet side street, found a $100 bill tucked into the windshield wiper! So folks how should I spend that?

Someone in the Christmas Spirit is obviously just going around spreading local joy anonymously (Maybe on any old cars haha as though the owners need it?) giving people $$$ money.

Though I cannot outright buy even least expensive housing where I live so am not at all wealthy haha, I have plenty of money to last another couple decades. Whenever I need something, I buy it. This last few weeks have made 4 Amazon multi item buys, one of which came in today, a $21 Lapaza navy blue, silky smooth, lightweight polyester underwear pant bottom.

Amazon.com

Just part of my skiing and winter outdoor layer options. Tuesday received a heavyweight Lapaza underwear pant bottom that has a wonderful soft fuzzy inner layer. Maybe could give the $100 to some good cause? Or buy one of these 5 pound blocks of peanut butter fudge for $82?

What a good deed someone did for you.... whether or not you need it. You must have done something to deserve it.

Do not buy the fudge. Put a ten in the Salvation Army kettle and spend the rest on a nice dinner and some healthy food....that's my suggestion.

My guardian angel went on Christmas break and forgot to tell me. I fell over something that was not there on the patio last night. Both of the wine glasses I was carrying landed on the beige sofa and are fine. Busted tailbone, egg on my head, a couple of other dings. Not sure about some ribs. Not broken but very angry with me. Not what was on my list for Christmas.

I have to deal with the grocery shopping and laundry. Then an other Voltaren and a good movie to sleep to.

If you’re having company, postpone. Order groceries. Wear clothes twice. JK on that one, but if times are tough, I’d dig out the ugly stuff you rarely wear.

What is a Voltage?

All I want for Christmas is a job. There is Nothing. To. Do. I stretch out my little household chores to last as long as possible. (Not a lot of chores in the teeny, tiny Hovel!) Go to bed as late as I can to avoid getting up too early to another empty day. And the longer I go without a job, the physically weaker I seem to get.

I'd even go back to work as the Biscuit Bitch at the place where I worked before the bakery, in spite of the fact that there are, to put it kindly, some unsavory people working there (at least one while I was there who came to work packing(!) and carried a flask in his backpack. Unfortunately, the place caught fire about a month ago and still has not reopened.

It's no fun feeling unnecessary:(

Gads! Poor head and tail.

Were both wine glasses empty or full when they softly landed on the BEIGE sofa?
Were you heading over to refill the glasses?
Was your guardian angel under the table, too?

Just messing with you. Glad nothing worse happened!

It should have said Voltaren which contains diclofenac a pain and inflammation medication.
Laundry is done. My closet is barest bones right now. Everything that does not fit was rehomed recently. Sofa and floor are clean which was easy on Sunbrella fabric and tile. SO will take care of the hams in the smoker.
No invasion expected for today:)

Ribs hurt! Tail hurts! Pride hurts! And I wasted two glasses of Christmas Merlot. Baaad!

They need to start using them here so the carts don't get stolen.
that's the reason they started using them here about 20 years ago... trolleys would be found all over the car park.. or in the streets..or found in people's yards, and gardens... in the rivers... and so on.... so now you put the token or coin in, and then when you take the trolley back to the Corral you get your token back again..

I am in same boat. I was born to work and make money; it feels so..so..fulfilling! Then I can give away money, even better!

Anyway: I have mentioned this need to be doing work and invariably some (younger) doc or whoever will think to solve my issue I should:

"Go volunteer". It isn't THAT, is a drive to feel worth something to the world.

I feel like saying: "YOU go volunteer, work for nothing. Try it!"

I have tried volunteering: The younger organizers treat you, during training, as if you are dumber than a brick or you are a little KID!

Then when you get on the job, it is so BORING it makes me want to jump ship. Which I do.

I took a job selling donuts one time, it had a drive through counter, too. I had to really hustle and work a lot! They gave me the job of closing up within a week after I started. It was great! I had so much fun: everyone wanted to either know if I was the OWNER (age) or would tip me big time, thinking I was supplementing my old age income! They paid me only $12.00 and hour (2 years ago) but I could have cared less. But having that check with my name on it and a potential for moving up was worth every minute.

For the first time in 70 years by 10:30 pm I thought I was finished. So tired, so BORED with my own company, I texted my son Happy New Year that I was going to bed. I wonder if I would have felt differently if I had bought that bottle of Bolla Valpolicella. Instead, had 2 capsules of THC extra strength which I then doubled. Didn't want to vape as that has been putting me to sleep.

Seeing the two Andys--Cooper & Cohen on CNN also was strange. Anderson has the weirdest laugh, it's a high pitched giggle. Tried switching channels, tried talking on phone to friends, no, no go, so BORED.

Went to bed, but listened to the Andys, couldn't sleep. Wanted to. Had great Fear something bad was going to happen in Times Square, so bad have things been in NYC with those People, never allowed to celebrate anything except jew killing in their own part of the world. Thank goodness nothing happened. I imagined the worst but BLESS OUR NYC POLICE, the finest in the land. No Quarter for would be party poopers.

Remember approx. 45 years ago, husband & I decided at last minute to attend NYE festivities. We were stopped at 36th Street, and allowed to go no further, so cautious were the police about keeping Times Square safe. So, of course they were up for everything that could possibly happen & I wasted time last night being afraid. If the cops were so cautious back then when nothing was happening, of course they were on guard to keep us safe.

Then, had to listen to Paul Anka of all people, play us out and in with 'My Way' 'Imagine' and 'NY NY'. One of my least favorite entertainers.

After midnight son DID call me anyway. I think my grandson wished me a Happy New Year, or was it my son pretending to be his son, he does a great imitation.

Anyway.........at the top of that circular clock, here we go again. 2024? It was never in my mind to make it this far. Wow.

Wishing you all the very bef
I am reminded of the Poe story about the convict hearing the incessant TICK TICK of the clock.
I too wonder at the fact I made it this long.
Its not a joyous wonder though ...
to steal from Rhett Butler frankly my dear I (no longer} givr a damn!

t, alwaysII
