Leaving the phone at home.

I've got into the habit of leaving my phone at home. It's really liberating as I'm paying more attention to my surroundings. I'm using my brain again to figure things out if I get lost, and just deal with life. Plus I don't want this thing in pocket constantly. Actually I'm feeling a lot more free and using my landline more. I refuse to be available 24/7. If I'm not at home, people just have to wait.

Not hard for me, don;t have a cell. If they know where to find me I will answer. I have enough trouble taking care of me. IF the young people I love make bad decisions they will have to figure it out.

does not mean a I don;t love them but if you commit a crime, you deserve the time. Don;t be stupid and expect me to fix it, Not going to happen, after don't come to my house, I will beat you to a pulp to learn.

I never leave my phone at home, not because I want to take and receive calls while I;m out necessarily, in fact I rarely look at it when I'm out .. instead I need it for the camera. I am an avid photo taker.

It's my numero uno hobby .. I literally take photos of almost anything when out and about.. and quite often post them here in our photography section

This is the last photo I took.. Saturday..a dull overcast day..

but when we went to the restaurant to have Christmas lunch.. we passed through a village the site of the castle of Fotheringhay where Mary Queen of Scots was murdered... how could I not stop and take a photo despite the dull weather..

@hollydolly , I'm getting a great education on the history of British monarchy, am watching the fascinating Netflix series- Secrets of Great British Castles. It's such a good series...I started re-watching it.

I used to be on-call 24/7 and had to respond within 15 minutes from the time the call was placed. Did that for too many years. It still haunts me today.

Leaving the phone at home while you are out is absolutely the best way to live life, I am very happy for you.

that's a fascinating subject..I've visited quite a few castles and ruins in my life... some are really wonderful and been looked after carefully , others barely a stone standing..

many have wonderful stories attached to them

there's a castle here in my little town.. as well

As a little aside..I was born in a Castle..so it's a little bit in my blood to be interested...

This indeed sounds like a fascinating subject and thus warrants it's own thread IMHO. 🥰

"Do you have your phone with you?" The auto speaker in the Kitchen asks.

A few minutes later, "Do you have our phone with you."
You answer after getting it out of the car, "Yes."

My phone doesn’t ring much at home so I’m not concerned about it happening when I’m out. For me it’s a security blanket. When walking in an unknown area today, I was thankful to have it rather than a paper map.

I was looking at some things in a store. Took a few quick photos. Will research them at my leisure.

We have two cell phones, one for everything and one for going out. The one used for going out is for emergencies or just needing to call somewhere while out. The extra one is needed if the other one quits working.

My iPhone is way too complicated for me. I wanted one of the senior phones with the large number keyboard. Not one phone store I visited had any. Some sales people said they are not in the high sales market and if I really wanted one go to Amazon. Two or three sales people never even knew they existed. The one puzzle I have concerning this red emergency button on the back of the phone is what agency receives the signal or does it go to a call center like OnStar?
