Fried My Car. Yet Another Senior Moment

As I recall, my old Austin Healey has a positive ground electrical system. :)
And thus the nickname "Lucas prince of darkness" was coined. :ROFLMAO:

Want more? :ROFLMAO:

The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
Lucas is the patent holder for the short circuit.
Lucas - Inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas - Inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three position Lucas switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.
The Original Anti-Theft Device - Lucas Electrics.
Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices

So my car needed a boost and I put the cable wires backwards on the negative and positive terminals and fried the car. It's at the garage...I'm awaiting a hefty bill unless I just need all of the fuses replaced.

I've boosted scores of cars in my life. Can't believe I actually did that. Man, I'm getting old.
How old was the battery? Mine is going on 6 years now and it's getting to be time.

Beezer, what's the update on your fry-mobile? What was the damage?
Oh Welp...

The total bill for repair was $320.00, including 'an investigation fee' for $125.00. I don't really understand this investigation fee as I told the mechanic exactly what happened and what to look for. (repairing the fuses)

At any rate, I feel I got off okay price wise. I was thinking it might cost an easy grand to repair the car.

Thanks for all of your input on this thread...the helpful posts...and the ones that made me chuckle! :)
