Why does my house feel cold at different times of day

..when the temperature remains the same.

For example. it's an overcast day... no sun coming in the windows, the temperature inside the house is 15 deg.... I;m not cold, I have layers on.. I'm fine

In about 20 minutes it will be dark.... at 4.30pm.... later in the evening , despite the temp remianing the same in the house ( no heating on )... I will be cold.. in fact so cold I'll have to add another layer, and I may have to turn a source of heating on..

Question why is it hat 15 deg during the day feels much warmer despite no sun... than 15 degrees in the evening... inside the house.

Anyone explain ?

The outside of the house starts to cool down.

Also, as the sun moves around from one side of the house to the other, the house will be cooler on the side, where the sun is not.
yes ..however my office room is at the front of the house... The sun comes around here in the afternoon... in the morning when it's 14 or 15 deg in here..I'm not cold... when the sun comes around.. it might raise it a couple of degrees.. not today... but even when the sun is not out, and the temperature remains the same from morning until night... I don't feel the cold.. until after dark...

Increased humidity?

I know you endure a cold home in the winter.
No...I have a hygrometer in this room and in the kitchhen downstairs, and the relative humidity remians pretty much the same...on a daily basis.. right now it's showing 46% which is Dry... the temps right now is 15.4 c... it's now dark..

Having ruled out physical factors (humidity and different parts of home)
maybe its phycological ...
I am guessing as darkness proceeds our moods tend toward despondency
does anyone know of any studies in this regard?

I think this might be the cause

Might be the thermostat location. Normally the thermostat is located on an interior wall.

Even on an overcast day the outside temp can be warmer the outside walls will be warmer.

At night of course the temp drops, cooling the outside walls.

So during the day the outside walls are warmer. The night time temp drop on the outside walls will be impacted by being colder even though the thermostat shows the same. So while the thermostat shows what the temp is on the inside walls the cold from the outside walls is the culprit.

...and I have cavity wall insultation

Only way to know for sure is to check the actual temp at an outside wall & at the wall where the thermostat is.
well the hygrometers are in different rooms..one in the kitchen by the back door.. and one here in the office next to the wall and window.. the temps on both only vary by about 1 deg... the upstairs being the higher

Also I can have the windows open during the day and it won't feel cold.. as soon as it starts to get dark I close all the windows.. ( sometimes its only the bathroom windows).. and close all the blinds ...to keep the heat in... and altho' the heat remains the same..I get colder

I always feel chilly for an hour or 2 after Supper...especially my hands and arms. It appears that more of my "blood flow" goes toward the belly, and less to the extremities. I keep a nice blanket near the recliner, and after supper, I cover up for an hour and watch the TV. Eventually, things go back to normal.
well this is the thing. It's not necessarily before or after a meal... but because the temp drops in me significantly despite the temps perhaps staying the same in the house..I have the need to cover myself in a fleece blanket..or add other layers of clothing...

It's just an anomaly I've wondered about for a while

of course if it was hot sun during the day then i'd understand it feeling cooler in the evning.. but when there's been NO sun.. and the temps have remained the same all day.. why then do I feel it much colder ...
