Can you read your own writing? Cursive🙃

I'm talking about cursive. I put notes in my check book and often can't decifer what I've written. How did my penmanship get so bad? Takes me forever to read it back... Same thing goes for other things I have written down.

I sometimes just use the computer program to type things to other people.

I try to be more careful but still can't read it. Oh well at least I subtract and add ok, most of the time

Yes, I can but my style of cursive fluctuates. Occasionally, it's attractive, often ugly to me. I also may form a letter totally differently in the same sentence. An s one way at the beginning and another way at the end. Makes me feel like a split personality. Interestingly, I am a .

I couldn't even read my own cursive writing when it was important. Same with when I printed my reports. I used to drive my grade school teachers crazy.

I was a draftsman by trade for a few years when much younger and spent so much time writing and drawing that my hand hurt and the pencil put a dent in my finger. It's shocking how atrocious my penmanship has become. Like I don't care anymore or something

My writing has become an odd sort of shorthand that I’m still able to decipher most of the time.

No room to make any sense writing notes in a Check book. Save them for a Note Book. A check book is for insane impulsive stuff not common-sense.

I don't know what you mean. I said it's not only my checkbook.

My handwriting is pretty legible, but I usually print. I was a draftsman before I was an engineer. I can print faster than most can write.

Write the notes to yourself on plain Notepads of many pages
make sure you put the date of the note to yourself so you can
go back to them later and see how bad you F'd up.

I can't hardly see what I write wherever I write it. I use note pads all the time. Thank you for the suggestions.

It was my good fortune to be taught English at school by someone skilled in the art of handwriting. That teacher taught her class how to write in Italic Script. To this day my preferred pen is that of the fountain pen, as for legible, the style itself makes that easy. You can see examples of it, In This Thread.

My penmanship has always been atrocious at "best". It hasn't improved. My printing is very good, though.

If I jot something down fast, or cram something tiny into my checkbook registry, especially in a hurry and without glasses and flashlight in hand, I'll have trouble reading it later, but can usually figure it out if important. I've always had good penmanship, but I guess that's one of the many things that can be negatively affected as we get older.

I can read my own cursive writing but almost no one else can so it no longer saves time and I may have to give it up and print everything or take much more time to write cursive legibly.
