very true.....it's sad but it's absolutely the truth... even my stuff in my home which is modern.. my daughter doesn't want if I die... her house is ultra modern..and minimalistic....House next door had an estate sale a few years ago. The owner died in a nursing home and left the house to her son. He only took a small trailer of stuff for himself. After the weekend sale was over, the roll away dumpster showed up. I was surprised at the amount of stuff that ended up in it. People really don’t want old timey, kitschy stuff.
Somebody posted a picture of my late aunt! The pose and cig are perfect. I have the black and white version in my photo archive.I remember that style and wouldn’t care for it.
I’m sure that there is a group of mid century decorators and collectors that would put it to good use if the price was low enough.

Debodun , When are you going to tell us how you feel about the lamp? That's the shade that came with it.![]()
I kinda like it, especially the ornate shade. Too bad it's out of style these days. I just don't have room in my new home and it's been sitting in the basement since I moved. It survived the August flood.Debodun , When are you going to tell us how you feel about the lamp?
Do they come in pairs?Speaking of lamps.
I've been trying to sweet talk mama into letting me get a 'leg lamp' but I'm not having much luck so far.
Didn't have my hearing aids in at the time so I didn't catch the exact wording but she said something along the lines of that I was either low class or had no class and ask me if I was friggin' nutz.
Go ahead and admit it this is absolutely beautiful.....right ?

Was it brand new or you bought it like that. You can buy a new shade, if you really love the base. If you don’t need another lamp, put it in your sale. That's the shade that came with it.![]()
I didn't buy it, I inherited it and that was thr shade that was with it.Was it brand new or you bought it like that. You can buy a new shade, if you really love the base. If you don’t need another lamp, put it in your sale.
I have one similar to the one on the left. It belonged to my mother, and I think it's called a "Gone With the Wind" lamp. Some can be quite valuable, but I assume you aren't planning to sell it.These are the only table lamps I have in the main part of the house:

That you like it is all that matters! In style or out of style who cares.I kinda like it, especially the ornate shade. Too bad it's out of style these days. I just don't have room in my new home and it's been sitting in the basement since I moved. It survived the August flood.
I think there are people who would like these. The 4th one, the dark red glass one could look good with a Tiffany lampshade.I have some lamps even I think are pretty ugly. I have about 20 lamps in the basement and have been wondering if it's worth it to lug them up for this year's garage sale. I don't know what table lamps are selling for retail, but my prices are in the $2 to $10 range.

I like the green one. I like the colours and the metal base. I think it would look pretty in a garden room or conservatory. These are the only table lamps I have in the main part of the house:
