Still trying to find the magic formula for me to sleep all the way through the night.
You may be right, six hours plus nap isn't bad.I'm going to cut out my glass of water late in the evening. I've done a lot of the things many of you mention. Black out curtains, etc. Maybe I only need 6 hours of sleep anyway. Plus I will nap for a bit in the afternoon.
per AI:
"First sleep" and "second sleep" refer to a historical sleep pattern where individuals would sleep in two distinct periods during the night.
History:
This sleep pattern was common in pre-industrial societies, particularly in Europe and the Middle East. People would typically go to bed early (around 9-10 PM), sleep for a few hours, wake up around midnight for 1-2 hours, and then go back to sleep until dawn.
I too did that for a while. I would get up when I woke, say about 2am. Decided not to worry and fret about sleep; instead did a few chores about the house, or watch a show until I just began to feel a bit of sleep coming on again; go back to bed about 5am, sleep until 7:30 or 9am. I just "let it be what it was and relaxed about it for about 2 years; then the sudden light switch thing happened! You may be right, six hours plus nap isn't bad.
There was a time when some people believed we had a first and second sleep and would routinely get up in between sleeps and read or write.
After I read that I found I didn't worry about it too much and that right there was helpful in getting back to sleep.
That dog has on a page boy style wig. Makes me laugh, love it. I trained my last German Shepherd to let me put on his wrap around sunglasses when he was a pup. He would fetch them for me when he wanted to go outside even to just pee. LOL.Love your new avatar, CooCoo!
Pretty baby!Hilarious! I just thought it was a Springer Spaniel!

If you're even remotely like me, probably never. I used to joke that because bands work mostly at night that our AM and PM were confused. Our AM was everyone else's PM. I retired in 1996 after performing for 25 years out of 40. That was 29 years ago, and I am still a true blue night owl. I did kind of break that for awhile in 2006 when I started riding my bicycle every morning at 10:00 AM. But it didn't last long. After a few months of riding in the morning and at night if I couldn't get out at that time, I started riding exclusively at night. Usually around midnight when it's nice and quiet and there is little to no traffic.I'm still waking up at about 5 am. When will that end?
Still waking up early? When will that end?

Now that is positive thinking!! LOLProbably when you stop waking up...?
Just be glad you still are.![]()

I don't drink anything caffeinated after early afternoon (occasionally as late as 4pm but usually no later than 2). In the morning however is another matter. I've never smoked, don't drink much alcohol these days, but still like coffee! Most people are taking too way many medicines and drugs that includes caffeine drinks and alcohol. Constant daily caffeine and tea use especially. Our human bodies naturally oscillate on a 24 hour circadian rhythm we homo sapiens evolved with. For those that don't have prescribed medical issues, stop taking such substances to develop a stable homeostasis. Then tend to go to sleep and wake up at regular times. I still have insomnia at times that can always result from stressful periods and excitement like big events and binge and enjoy odd hours at times but then return to being natural for days between.
This.I fall asleep OK but after about 5 hours I have to get up to pee. Occasionally I will be able to go back to sleep, but usually my mind starts going and I'll just toss and turn.
